How can I get the rust off the microwave?

It's only 2 years old and wasn't a cheap one so I'm really annoyed it's so rusty under the plate.
I've tried everything to clean it off but it's taken the paint off and gone rusty and just keeps getting really bad after each use.
Is there anything I can do?

If it’s taken the paint off then I’d be inclined to get in touch with the manufacturer and complain. It shouldn’t be like that after 2 years.

As PP suggests, speak to the manufacturer. I had a history of microwaves doing this. Paint coming off and rusting and needing replacing within a couple of years. Now I've had my last one for about 10 years because I only looked for ones with a stainless steel interior.
It's my fault all of mine rusted because you're actually meant to wipe them out and dry thoroughly after every use but who's got time for that?

I also had this problem and now I just turn the power off and leave the door ajar to let the stream out. No help for the current issue though, sorry.

Stop using it. Microwaves rusted and missing the paint are dangerous. It's done. Stop cleaning it. Stop using it.
Buy a new one if you really can't manage without a microwave and get a refund from the manufacturer.

I had a little bit of rust like that, sanded it off and got a little pot of enamel paint from Internet to paint over. Good as new.

HOWEVER it was only about 1 inch long. That one needs throwing away OP.

Every time you use your next microwave take out the glass plate, clean and dry the inside.

I must say, I completely free with the other that yours shouldn't be used anymore. It's dangerous.

In future stay far away from painted interior microwaves. Get stainless steel (see pic) or be prepared to wipe and dry it every time after use.

I always leave mine slightly open now, I had two that rusted a bit, a lot less than OPs and I painted over it with a small tin of white enamel paint but that one looks way past painting.

I had the same problem after 2 years. I contacted the manufacturer and they said basically it's out of warranty so sod off. Very annoying as, like you, it wasn't cheap.

Bin it, buy a new one.

I'm a cleaner. This happens because you close the door after use, it doesn't get a chance to dry out each time. Looking at your image I would say it is too far gone.

You need to leave a microwave door open after each use and preferably give it a quick dry out as well.
