Meloneras or playa del Ingles?

Our hotel is bang in the middle (8 min drive either way ) and we are looking for a nice cocktail bar /restaurant and beach.
Out of these places which would you recommend ?

Maspalomas - the lighthouse area

Playa Del Ingles is a shithole

Oh really ...I've never been to Gran Canaria
Anyone have any experience with Puerto Rico ? Any better?

Puerto Rico is nice - lively and lots to do.
Meloneras is beautiful, white upmarket, I found it more coupley than families so depends what you're looking for.
Maspalomas is ok, lively and lots to do.
Playa del Ingles doesn't do it for me, been once and haven't returned.
Mogan is stunning too, lovely little port town.

My top two personally are Meloneras and Puerto Rico

Playa Del Ingles is awful. It's a clubby scene and when I went 20 odd years ago it was the gay capital of the canaries, not that that makes any difference to anything, but just fyi.

Meloneras is very nice. Quiet crowd, restaurant scene, nice promenade to wander up and down in the evenings, no stag or hen dos!

Puerto Rico is incredibly ugly. It looks like GC's version of Benidorm. Maybe it's nicer than it looks!

Mogan and Meloneras are the two nicest places by far.

You can walk down the promenade from the lighthouse and there are loads of restaurants there.

Agree. I went on holiday there about 20 years ago and hated it. I've been to loads of other tacky holiday resorts and had a great time but just didn't like it there at all.

Meloneras is really lovely

playa del ingles is rough

There is a real threatening atmosphere at PDE, didn’t like it at all

Not overly keen on Gran Canaria, actually but Meloneras and Maspalomas are decent if you don’t mind all the Swedish folk clomping around in hiking boots and sticks

Much prefer Lanzarote but if you stay away from PDE and Porto Rico you should be fine although Playa Amadores just around the corner isn’t bad. Extremely hilly though.
