Best bread for toastie maker!

Has anyone found the ideal bread for a toastie maker? Looking for something square so that all the sides seal, but it’s proving elusive! The Warburtons Toastie promised so much from the name, but still ended up with cheese leaking from two sides of the rectangle. Can anyone help before I am forced to live on toasties for a month whilst sampling every option…

Personally I like the original warburtons toastie loaf. It's too big of course but I like the crunchy bits around the edge. Yummy.

I get the best fit and then use a rolling pin to make each slice just a little bit wider!

It's not if you get the smaller sized loaves instead of the full sized loaves.

two slices of Warburtons big or small, buttered on the outside and filled with cheese is the dream though.

I gave up with sandwich toasters as I could not bear cleaning them. Bought a sandwich press for £25 which is like a panini press but with completely flat plates meaning it is so easy to clean and you can make a sandwich with any size or shape bread and toast it. I have also cooked chicken breast, mushrooms etc on it.

Hovis thick white is perfect for toasties.

Thought the small Toastie loaves looked too little but will give it a try, thanks @pastabest! We do have a flat press attachment but I’ve only tried it with panninis so far. Will have a toastie filled week to try all these suggestions!!

There's a warburtons orange packet one that we use it's the perfect size

@JolieJ That’s the one we have but it doesn’t fit well - maybe our machine is an awkward size!

Just found the perfect loaf for my sandwich toaster. It's from the Co-op. Orange pack and say's what it is, Toastie.

I was going to suggest getting a smaller loaf as well. They seem to fit the toaster better.
