Do you have in your inbox ? I've got 59094. I've spent the last hour getting rid and unsubscribing myself from years of utter rubbish .

Just over 20000, I'm past caring 😂

imnottoofussed · 22/08/2022 19:33

Nearly 4869 unread.

I have a habit of leaving stuff as unread so it's near the top of my mailbox and I remember it. E.g discount codes or important emails. That seems to have translated over time to nearly 5000 unread emails 🤦‍♀️

Charltonandthewheelies · 22/08/2022 19:34

62,331, think I need to do the same as you op.

Keep meaning to look into it. But cba

RoseAndRose · 22/08/2022 19:40

I read something scary about how much energy is required to keep running the server farms where all these 'live'

But I still have about 3000 - sporadically I have a clean out, but really need to do better

GiltEdges · 22/08/2022 19:45

None. I read everything on the day I receive it. If it’s something I need to keep, even temporarily, then it gets filed. If it isn’t, it’s immediately deleted. I review the filed items at least once a week and get rid of anything I no longer need e.g. an online order that’s now arrived. I can’t stand a messy inbox and have the same policy for work emails.

Exactly. It's completely ridiculous that simply looking at a website will now trigger frequent emails from a company unless you very carefully customise the cookies options to prevent it.

If we were serious about climate change and saving energy, that sort of nonsense would be outlawed.

Receiving marketing emails is nothing to do with cookies…

BarbaraofSeville · 22/08/2022 20:10

So why am I getting emails from companies I've never bought anything from or set up an account with, always hours/a day or two after I've looked at their website and then they appear regularly for time immemorial?

Well that’s impossible to say, but accepting the cookies on a website does not give the website owner the ability to market to you via email. Cookie consents and marketing consents are very separate things.

Onthegrid · 22/08/2022 20:20

I have 4 personal email
accounts and 1 work account
I work on a handle once principle so read then delete, action or flag.
I keep only important emails in archive folders and these empty after 12 months.
I usually have around 20 in my work account and about the same across my personal accounts.
Was helping my mum out the other week as she had messed up her printer. She has around 50000 unread emails and god knows how many read ones in her inbox. Apparently it’s because she has used email for so many years?!

AuntieMarys · 22/08/2022 20:27

12

Surtsey · 22/08/2022 20:43

2191 altogether, of which 15 are unread.

We have to clear ours out periodically because it is a creaky old web-based thing and gets too full, especially if relatives send us umpteen photos of their kids/holidays.

My inbox acts as a to do list. If it’s rubbish its immediately deleted. If I might need to refer back to it one day, it’s filed in an appropriate folder. And if I need to action something or reply, it sits in my inbox until I do so and then it’s immediately filed.

Smellywellyhoo · 22/08/2022 21:09

0 I just check my emails every day and empty my junk every day. It doesn't take long.

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 22/08/2022 21:11

20,330 unread. Total I have no idea.

Goingtofast · 22/08/2022 21:13

18,425 unread, who can arsed though
