Odd names!

Hi! Tell me if you've got an odd name/spelling or if you know somebody who has!

I'm Eliode (pronounced El-o-D) but the normal spelling is Elodie. I know of nobody else that has my spelling. It's quite annoying.

My mum was Elizabeth, nicknamed Lizzie but everybody spelt it wrong; Lizzy, Lissie, Lissy, Lizy, Lizie, Lizze ect.

My un-born daughter is to be called Isadora Mirabel Elouisa Elizabeth. Its very hard to spell.

xxx Eliode

Wouldn’t Eloisa be better?

What a bonkers thread.

BanditBluey · 22/08/2022 17:44

What about Eluisa or Luisa?
(If you don't mind the Encanto theme, since you have Mirabel in there already)

Why are you giving your baby four names plus her surname? What a mouthful for the poor kid.

Preeeettyprettygood · 22/08/2022 19:23

Hmmmm...any other names you could add?

My mum liked exotic names and Eliode is certainly unusual..... Everyone calls me "Eli-o-D" which I understand.

Poor you. I understand.

I say this all the time because it’s a pet peeve but it isn’t unusual because it’s misspelled. It’s like when someone says ‘oh this is my little boy Jackson but I spell it Jaxxonn as it’s a bit more unusual.’ But when he introduces himself or someone calls him he’s just Jackson like all the other Jacksons. It isn’t unusual, it’s just a misspelling of a nice name.

For unusual I know lots! I know a little boy named Kylo which is probably the most unusual! At first I thought he was Kyle and my dd was just calling him that, like how you might call someone named Dave Dave-oh but no, it’s his real name.

Kanaloa · 22/08/2022 19:30

I really like the name Isadora though, it’s unusual but pretty and solid. I wouldn’t go with all the middle names though, it sounds a bit like a list of sisters from a beloved childrens novel. If it was me I’d choose Isadora Mirabel.

Ria Alannah King, is that you??

I'd also like to say that this isn't really a post for criticising my parents spelling or my own. Thank you!

But it’s not being critical to point out that Eliode is not pronounced Elodie.

ChagSameachDoreen · 22/08/2022 19:37

My name is Amiele. It's pronounced Amelie.

😑

DuchessOfSausage · 22/08/2022 19:53

My name is Meaghain pronounced Megan

Op hasn’t asked for criticism of her name or her daughter’s name. She’s asked for examples of oddly spelt names.

Me neither.... I'd have said "A-ree-ah" So the "r" is silent?
