IKEA customer service

I bought 2 Pax double wardrobe frames - one with 2 Fardal doors and one with 1Fardal Door & 1 Vikedal mirrored door. All delivered ok and we put them together with no problems, but couldn’t affix to walls as we are in a rented property.
We have had this same Pax wardrobe with Fardal doors previously with no issues .
Wardrobes were in use for 10 months and then the heavy Vikedal mirrored door just fell off its hinges (luckily landing on the bed). Door is unusable now & hinges probably unsafe to but the wardrobe carcass itself seems fine.
I set up a complaint with IKEA and I had several emails back & forth with them asking questions & needing photos etc. Then for a week I heard nothing further and my last email went unanswered.
I rang the Customer Service line and was on hold for 15 mins before I got through to a woman who kept putting me on hold. Eventually as I escalated my complaint (as the customer service woman said they couldn’t help me) I spoke to a ‘resolution manager’.
The manager basically said they would not be sending a replacement door etc as we failed to follow the set up/fitting instructions to the letter. This apparently voids any guarantee with IKEA. I explained the instructions were just pictures & we understood from those that the pax wardrobe should be attached to the wall for safety reasons - NOT to stop the doors falling off!!! There’s no information relating to the fitting of the Vikedal mirrored door or it needing the wardrobe carcass that it’s attached to, to then be attached to a wall and no where on any paperwork could I see that your guarantee is void if you don’t follow the instructions exactly.
So the guarantee they advertise is actually worthless and really they can get round not refunding anything, if you’ve not fitted your furniture together the correct way. The ‘resolution’ manager couldn’t have cared less - he had a script and was not going to be deviated from it.
