School in the 1970?

Was chatting to a friend who also went to school in the 1970s. We agree they were quite different to now. Anyone else go to school then?

Corporal punishment
Whole class detention without prior knowledge of parents
Being called names by the teachers
No teaching assistants
No food choices
Being scared of teachers
Girls being kissed on their birthdays by one male teacher, it still makes me shudder
Im sure there are many other things that were different
