What do you never run out of?

I have a little storage area out back which has suffered from my habit of "oooo that's on offer, I'd better buy some". I've totally lost track of what I have and how much. I have therefore decided. I shall take two boxes and put in one of each essential item and put on the top shelf. Only when I need to raid my boxes shall I buy more of what is in them.

I have one box of toiletries and cleaning things:
my shampoo, toothpaste, deo, face wash, floss
dc &DH as above plus razor blades, shaving foam and after shave.
toilet cleaner, washing up liquid, bathroom cleaner, sponge, brush
dishwasher tablets
toilet paper

one box of food
pasta, rice, tea, coffee, breakfast cereal for each of us, jam

Window cleaning stuff etc can wait the few days until I can get to the shop. What have I forgotten, or what would you put in your box? Something that if you have none left will cause immediate meltdown and complaints as if it's the beginning of the end of the world...

We have to keep endless supplies of fusilli for our dc (and only fusilli!).

The pasta shortages just before lockdown were incredibly stressful and inever want to experience that again!

Isseywith3witchycats · 22/08/2022 14:08

AiryFairy1 · 22/08/2022 14:13

Toilet paper is the main thing!! We live fairly near to the shops so can get things at a push.

Tinned tomatoes, marmalade, marmite, peanut butter, tonic/mixers for gin.

Surtsey · 22/08/2022 14:13

Piriton

The other thing I always seem to have and endless supply of is Body Shop body butter. I don't like it, I never use it, so how come there's pots of the stuff all over the darned house?

Carrieonmywaywardsun · 22/08/2022 14:17

Pasta, coffee (instant and beans), flour, sugar, milk, washing up liquid, laundry detergent, hand soap, kitchen and loo roll.

And fizzy drinks, we keep crates of cans in the pantry

LittleLlama · 22/08/2022 14:22

I have a number of subscriptions on Amazon and a large under-the-stairs cupboard so we never run out of toilet rolls, toothpaste, bubble bath, shower gel, shampoo, bleach, etc.

The only things we run out of during the week are fresh supplies like fruit and veg and milk, but we have a well stocked One Stop shop two minutes away so it’s not an issue.

I always have a constant supply of toiletries and cupboard staples in. I don’t hoard but if we run out of a tube of toothpaste or dental floss for example and start a new one, then I replace it when I’m next shopping. The same principle applies to the pantry cupboard in the kitchen. And everything getting rotated according to sell by dates. I do lots of shopping around for good deals and offers and always have a good stock in of everything. It does save money so you’re not panic buying something at full price. For example, Oral B dental floss that I can’t live without is £2.00 in Sainsbury’s and 79p in Home Bargains.

redskyatnight · 22/08/2022 14:38

UHT milk. To go with your breakfast cereal :)

A580Hojas · 22/08/2022 14:40

Marmite. Loo roll. Tea bags. Salt. Quite a few things actually.

We just buy a new jar/packet when we realise we are running out. We don't have any stocks.

Xiaoxiong · 22/08/2022 14:40

UHT milk
Tinned tomatoes
Rose harissa
Tahini
Toilet roll
Viakal

Heartrate · 22/08/2022 14:44

I have at least 2 boxes/bottle spare of everything we use regularly and that keeps. I go shopping once a week, what we don't have we manage without until the next shop, but it's never something important.

I can't imagine a world where you run out of toilet tolls or shampoo or washing up liquid or pasta and have to go out specially for it.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 22/08/2022 14:50

Antihistamine. Cat food and cat treats.

AffIt · 22/08/2022 14:51

Toothpaste. I blame my late father, who had some kind of weird dental phobia, for this.

I left home at 17. I am now 43. I have never, EVER been unable to immediately lay hands on a spare tube of toothpaste in all those years.

Eatingsoupwithafork · 22/08/2022 14:52

Colour catchers- discovered them when DD was born, literally feel angsty if I am on last box!

MrsSplendiferous · 22/08/2022 14:57

Another toothpaste hoarder here. Gotta be minty fresh.

Longdistance · 22/08/2022 15:24

Paracetamol in all forms, for both adults and dc.
Anything that has a yellow sticker on it that I can freeze.
