I'm currently on hold to my dentist, and after suffering through 15 minutes of their hold music so far, I reckon that this is a ploy to get people off the phone... I mean, what better way to shorten your average phone queue time than to make the waiting as unpleasant as possible? An annoyingly chirpy recording does keep reminding me about the online form I can use to contact them, but I won't be fooled by that again. It took me two weeks to realise that they hadn't got back to me!
