Is there a horrible virus currently doing the rounds?

Flew back from Majorca last Wednesday & from Friday I’ve been feeling really poorly.

Started off with high temp of 38.4, pounding headache & runny nose. It’s now like a full blown head cold along with no energy/tiredness, waves of feeling really sick. I seem to have a bit of a cough every now & again which hurts my chest. I’ve an upset tummy on & off not much of an appetite & belching loads. I thought I started to feel a bit better yesterday & this morning I’ve woken feeling absolutely terrible again. I just want to feel better it’s my last week off with my two DD’s before I return to work & feeling sad for them that I can’t do much.

I’ve done two Covid tests both are negative.

Not really any point to this post just wondering if anyone else has this germ or know anyone that’s been unwell like this recently?

DM was like this recently and it was a full week before a Covid test came back positive. There will always be other bugs and viruses going round though.

Whatever it is I hope you're feeling better soon. SadFlowers

It could be covid as they tests are not always accurate and your symptoms match up.Ive came home ill loads of times from holiday so could just be a common cold or flu.Another thing i had a few years back was Norovirus which i wouldnt wish on my worst enemy.

Thedungeondragon · 22/08/2022 10:24

I'd bet Covid. DH was a good 5 days in before he got a positive test. There is still a lot of it about, and on a flight it is pretty much guaranteed someone would have had it. Hopefully you will feel better soon.

My OH and DC had these symptoms. Both tested positive for covid after the initial negative result.

I'm sure you're describing the symptoms of covid there.

FarmerRefuted · 22/08/2022 10:33

Betting covid too, I was ill for five days before getting a positive test and it's rife on airlines/airports/resorts atm.

fufflecake · 22/08/2022 10:33

Yes but this also sounds like covid just not showing on the test yet

InDubiousBattle · 22/08/2022 10:36

I was poorly with covid symptoms for days testing negative before eventually testing positive.

Puffalicious · 22/08/2022 10:36

I have the exact symptoms like you and presently in bed with Covid. I came back from abroad 10 days ago, so I reckon that's been it.

It's my 3rd time- it's crap!

SOWK · 22/08/2022 10:37

Covid. I had similar symptoms but only got a positive LFT on day 3.

SilverLiningPlaybook · 22/08/2022 10:37

I have recently had Covid and all your symptoms are exactly how I felt.

VerifiedBot2351 · 22/08/2022 10:45

Keep testing for Covid. It can take a good few days of feeling unwell before it shows as positive. In fact, I was feeling better before mine was positive.

Corilee2806 · 22/08/2022 11:01

I was the same on my way back from a holiday in Spain. Kept testing but never got a positive so not sure if it was covid, symptoms were very similar though and had been at a wedding with a very high number of cases - so would be amazed if it wasn’t. Took weeks to feel normal and had gastro issues too, don’t know if two separate bugs but it was horrible!

TheDogsMother · 22/08/2022 11:02

I'd also bet Covid. I had all these symptoms and sadly do still have some of them several weeks later. I was testing negative it then became positive a few days later.

Mariposista · 22/08/2022 11:08

It really doesn't matter what the name of the illness you have is. Knowing what it is isn't going to suddenly magic away your symptoms. f it were a bacterial infection, yes you would need to know what it is so the doctor can prescribe the right antibiotic, but honestly, I wouldn't stress over WHAT it is, just focus on getting better. Plenty of rest, fresh air, healthy food and hydration - you should be fine in a few days.

PumpkinClementina · 22/08/2022 11:28

I have this right now. Was convinced it was covid but have repeated 3 days of lateral flows and all negative.

Gremlinsateit · 22/08/2022 11:31

I know this is rude and wrong of me, but I did have a chuckle at your thread title - “yes, it’s called Covid, where have you been?” I hope you feel much better soon.

I would keep testing on day 5 and 7 tbh just in case if youre going anywhere... its taking a long time to show on the lfts for some reason

It really doesn't matter what the name of the illness you have is. tell that to my work place who don't count covid sickness as sickness

I'm glad it wasn't just me - sorry OP Flowers

PumpkinClementina · 22/08/2022 11:52

@fufflecake I test every other day. I work for the NHS. Covid isn't the only illness around and it isn't the only illness with cold/flu like symptoms.

Catsinthesuitcaseagain · 22/08/2022 11:53

Does sound like covid. My dd tested negative until her symptoms disappeared then tested positive Confused
Not the point of thread but since you're just back from Majorca and I'm about to go can I ask do you have to wear masks on the plane?

Surely their policy is 'if you are physically well enough to work, you work, and if you feel too unwell, you don't' regardless of what the illness is.

Ah you're good then. But if anyone reading this doesn't test routinely I'd say do one on day 5 and 7. It is taking a while to show up.

That is their policy but if its covid it is not counted for the stats to decide if you've been ill "too much"

Thanks everyone appreciate you all commenting.

I shall do another test again tomorrow & see what it says. I’ve had Covid twice before i think the first time was similar to this not so much the second time though.

@Catsinthesuitcaseagain no you don’t have to wear a mask - a few people were though. Have a lovely time
