Starting to wonder if accepting was wise

A friend, well a friend of friends really has invited me to a do at this house. The mutual friendship group will all be there, approx 8 of us, plus a handful of people I don't know. I know the host, we move in the same circles, are often at the same events, but tbh I wouldn't really call him a friend.

He's a planner and the arrangements for this party are very detailed! He's even laid on transport for those of us who don't live within walking distance, all at his cost. He's recently come into some money and is enjoying sharing it!

Anyway, I accepted weeks ago, but as it approaches, that feels a bit rash. The way he has organised the transport I'll be effectively trapped there for 8 hours, unless I call my own cab, which seems rude when he's gone to so much trouble.

It could well be an excellent party, but most of the group are far more extrovert than me and "games" are planned Shock If I hate it I can't easily leave.

WWYD?

Just go and enjoy it.

If it's awful, you can receive 'an emergency text message from a friend who suddenly needs your help'. Then you call a taxi and go.
