Pain under rib

Just wondering if anyone can help because I have severe health anxiety (diagnosed) and this is stressing me out.

Just out of the blue yesterday I had this pain under my right rib and it's really painful, it's also radiating through to the same spot in my back. It's not my gallbladder as I had that removed in 2019!

If I sit still or lay down it's ok but if I touch it, bend over or cough/sneeze it's really painful. Bending over is the worst, it gives a real painful shooting pain. I can't wear my bra today because if I bend over and the wire digs in then it's so painful.

No other symptoms at all, no temperature or nausea just this horrendous pain.

Anyone had similar?

I have- it was costachondritis however it is spelt. Inflammation of the ribs. I took ibuprofen which helped

I have had a similar pain recently and previously and think it's wind! Sometimes it's so painful, although it doesn't happen that often

Costochondritis—- horrible pain but in no way serious.
Take 2 hot water bottles, place one on your chest ( wrap if necessary) second goes against your back, sit back against some pillows. Works every time for me.

l have had this for about 10 years or more. No rhyme or reason to how and why it just appears. Some days it can be so painful but I have just learnt to live with now. It is so intermittent as well and whenever I book a GP appointment by the time the appointment comes round it is gone so the last 3 times I have gone they press on it and there is no pain but maybe 20 mins after or before it was agony when I pressed on it.

I usually get it around once a month and it lasts about a week. It doesn't stop me doing anything though and to be honest now I forget the pain is there.

@Squashedraddish That's what came up when I googled but it said the pain was more in the middle and usually on the left. The symptoms do sound similar though.. I'll try some Ibuprofen. Thanks.

@mrsed1987 I did think it could be wind yesterday as I have IBS as well but it's so painful to touch in a certain area.

@Agadoodoododont I'm hoping it's that then as like you said nothing serious. I've got heat packs so going to try that now and hopefully it helps, you're right though it's a really horrible pain!

@saffy56 10 years?! Glad to hear it comes and goes though and you're right it isn't stopping me doing anything but then I bend over or sneeze and realise how painful it is!

I'll try hot water bottles and some pain killers to see if that helps.

Wish I had a more rational mind because obviously I've already convinced myself that I have a terrible disease 🙄
