Do you ever make sushi at home?

My dc love sushi but it is very expensive. I’ve never made it myself as it seems really fiddly but I was wondering if it was worth it. I wouldn’t know where to start. Have you ever made it yourself? Any tips if you have?

I do! Another one who just uses smoked salmon... Tasty and far less faff/expensive!

Speaking of less expensive, stop buying expensive sushi rice and buy plain pudding rice instead... The exact same thing for a third of the price!

As people have said above, just use tinned tuna and smoked salmon. It's so much fun to do and you get LOADS.

Even just cream cheese and cucumber or mashed sweet potato is lush as a filling.

And another upvote for chirashi sushi. One of life's great easy dinners.

That’s Chirashizushi or Chirashi bowl style ‘scattered’ sushi.

So you can feel smugly authentic.

Wow I am so pleased !

I make it occasionally- it's kind of fun but time consuming. Definitely way cheaper than buying it and can add exactly what you like.

Or make poké bowls: sushi rice, then just add what you want in sections - chopped raw veg, meat, etc. We eat them probably once a week.
