As rivers run dry in central Europe, they reveal a type of low-water mark particular to that part of the world, the so-called Hungersteine, or “hunger stones.” These rocks are only visible when water levels are extremely low. Over centuries, they have been interpreted as warning signs of imminent crop failures and even famine, and they were inscribed with dates or sayings marking the event.

Being a history junkie it's fascinating to think of a society and culture that had the foresight, and energy to devise these stark alerts to unborn generations. It's a testament to their faith(s). It's also a very good comparator to how in these days we clearly aren't giving a flying fuck about future generations.

I saw this online and Was fascinated! Scary times

I've just been reading about these on Snopes.

Apparently the "if you see me, cry" photo is from 2018 and is visible for 126 days a year since a Dam was built.

Others are definitely being seen this year though.

First thing I read about was all of the dead bodies being revealed at a lake near Vegas.

Some of these are exaggerated and not quite truthful, as @PritiPatelsMaker has said.

That said, there is no doubt we are in the middle of a very difficult drought period, that our farms and food supplies have been badly affected, and that climate change is a very frightening thing.

But we shouldn't need clickbait articles on the internet which take a liberal approach to the truth to tell us that.
