Somewhere nice for lunch between Manchester and Glasgow?

Any recommendations? I'm looking to meet a mate, and so nearest to halfway between would be best. If accessible by train even better, so I can have a pint as well. Looking at the train route I think Lockerbie/Carlisle or maybe Oxenholme (perhaps too far south?) might work but not sure which of these would be easiest/nicest to visit.

Tebay services - seriously it's nice!

Was just coming on to say Tebay services!! 😂. But if you want to get away from the motorway I’m sure there would be nice places in Carlisle.

Tebay services too 😀

The Moon, Kendal - you can walk there from Oxenholme station

Thanks folks. Tebay/Kendal look fine for driving. Any recommendations for the train+pint combo very welcome though!

The two suggestions in Kendal - you can get the train to Oxenholme and walk to Kendal - it's about a 30 minute walk.
