Can anyone help or give advice on how to get rid of grain mites please? I seem to have an infestation on the outer surface of my fridge.
First noticed something unusual a few days ago after I'd walked my dog. Normally dry him at back door next to fridge and obviously he shakes himself off etc. Afterwards I noticed the outside of the fridge covered in what I thought was tiny clear water droplets, so I wiped it down with kitchen roll before spraying it to clean and then dry. Noticed the same thing the next day, so done the same but thought it odd as nothing else seemed to be affected by - what i thought was - my dog shaking.
Friday evening my partner came over and I was telling him in passing (running joke that my pup is hard work...he's not at all!!
). Partner went to look then freaked because he saw something move
We basically cleaned every surface of the fridge using kitchen roll and hot soapy water, putting the used kitchen roll in a bag outside the back door. Metal tin of dog biscuits on top of the fridge was affected too, so that went. Also chucked a small plant and plant pot from on top of the fridge. Woke up next day and they were back
although not to the same extent.
The fridge is white with a black water dispenser and I bought it around 4-5 months ago.I never use the dispenser as, annoyingly, it has always seemed to have a slow flow. I noticed that the black part seems most affected and the seems to spread from there so I managed to get the black cover off the front abs found a load of them in there. Queue more scalding soapy water as much as possible. Went to bed last night thinking I was finally on top of it but they're back again. Partner went home yesterday morning and I'm just feeling so defeated
I can't afford another fridge at the moment. How do I tackle this? Stupidly, it's affecting my mental health. Since moving here 2 years ago I've had to deal with carpet beetles, bluebottle infestation, waking up one morning with around 8 large red bites (don't think bed bugs...new bed and mattress, checked for evidence, bought a treatment anyway). When I was a teenager our cat had a problem with fleas and I was constantly getting bitten, and had no way of trying to control it myself. And my parent wasn't great at trying to sort the issue either. So whenever I'm dealing with beasties and crawlies I end up feeling really really down (history of anxiety and depression).
Sorry this is long...please help!
