“Don’t want my babies anymore” UPDATE!

NC19052022 · 20/08/2022 21:43

I posted back in May on “30 days only” about how hard I was finding life with my 6 week old twins (plus toddler and husband with unstable epilepsy).

Anyway, if anyone happens to remember the thread, I just wanted to come back and say how well I am doing and how much I have adjusted. I got some wonderful advice and a big virtual hug from so many lovely people - both twin mums and sympathetic other parents.

I have found the last few months insanely hard. There have been many tears and many times I have wanted to quit (and probably would have if that was actually a possibility!) but I took some of the practical advice posters gave and things are gradually falling into place.

So a big thank you to anyone who had commented on it. This is a wonderful community sometimes.

Obviously the thread has been deleted now but if anyone is particularly interested then MN posted it on their instagram account (cheers mumsnet, it was in ‘30 days only’ so it’d disappear forever eventually.)

I remember your thread and just want to say well done. Twins are so hard (but lovely later on when they start to play together and entertain each other). Hang in there!

That's a lovely post to read and hope for people struggling with their situations. Thanks for the update x

Skipsabeat · 20/08/2022 22:25

I’m not sure if I read your last thread or not but I have 5 year old twins so know the hell that is tiny twins! I’m so glad you are doing better and coming through the fog, keep going xx

Ahh, I didn't see your post OP but this is lovely to hear.

I've got twins, they're two and a half now. All of the hard times are completely outweighed by the magical moments. Like this morning, when I woke up to them "reading" to each other at the bottom of my bed. Or when they kiss each other better when they hurt themselves. And the little games and stories they make up, or just the knowing look they give each other sometimes. Obviously it's not like that all the time! But at least once a day I find myself grinning like an idiot because I can't believe how lucky I am to experience this special kind of parenthood. Wonderful times are coming, and it will be so worth it xx

That's awful. I hope you complained.

Glad things are going better for you now.

I remember @NC19052022 as I'm also a twin mum so gravitate to posts that mention them!

I'm so glad you're doing better. Things will definitely get much much easier (from a sleep perspective, IIRC that was what was really upsetting you?).

alanabennett · 21/08/2022 00:27

Your post is one of the reasons I love MN. All the best to you, OP, I hope things continue to go well for you all!

sweetkitty · 21/08/2022 00:30

I didn’t read your post or have twins but had 4 babies extremely close together, they are all teenagers now and MN has often been a lifesaver for me over the years. So glad you are doing well

Apollonia1 · 21/08/2022 00:31

Great to hear things are improving!
I'm also a mum to twins (2.5 years). The early days are soo hard, but I found from 2 years old, it gets so much easier.
