Dog swallowed sausage wrapper ...

My dog is a 1 year old whippet
He has just stole a packed of Richmond sausage from the fridge...ate 2 and the package and I got the rest from him.
Is this going to kill him?
He eats all sorts and I'm terrified that this will really hurt him.
It's a paper packet the skinless sausage packet (small one )
I was trying to get it off him and he was just snacking at me..he swallowed it.
My partner said it's my fault
It is isn't it
I don't know what I'm going to do if anything happens to him
It's all my fault isn't ut

One summer my dhusky ate a flip flip.
All except the plastic toe post bit..
Pink rubbery poo for days...
Dpuppy ate 5 mince pies last Christmas.

If dogs couldn't survive eating crap they're not supposed to Labradors would be extinct.

I've known who ate an entire bathroom carpet in one sitting. And another who ate a set of four dining stools over the course of her lifetime.

Isaidnoalready · 20/08/2022 20:43

My cat ate that stringy tinsel type stuff you put on a Christmas tree? It only half came out and he tried to get it out by butt scooting across the floor after freaking out wondering what was chasing him I had to hold him upside down wedged in-between my legs to see if it was feasible to come out or be trimmed off it was quite a fucking mess

My dogs ate some pills and had to be taken to the vets for pills to make them puke on a bank holiday because no-one knew what was exactly in them that was expensive lesson the vet said keep them out of reach next time we did! (OK we thought we did) Still no idea how they got them 😕

Point is shit happens with pets and children that isn't always anyone's "fault"

Your dog will be fine but ur partner sounds like an absolute dick!!

perimenofertility · 20/08/2022 20:55

Mine went through a phase of eating socks off the radiator. Sausage packet will be out the other end in a day or two, he'll be fine. Maybe get a baby gate for the entrance to your kitchen? (and ditch the partner)

The dog will be absolutely fine!

Your partner is a dickhead.

This, with bells on.

This says a lot more about your partner than it does about the digestion of your dog.

harryloop · 20/08/2022 21:18

I've calmed down a bit now.
I just panic
He does eat all sorts
Stones,toilet roll,paper
Fingers crossed this is okay too

Also I know people say make your dog sick at home ...but when I looked on vets website it said don't make them sick at home and just to monitor them

Our whippet used to gobble things so quickly when he knew he shouldn’t have them. They are like lightning and you’re very limited in what you can do.

Our greyhound ate 10 cheese slices, plus inner and outer wrappers. It all reappeared over the next couple of days.

No matter how careful you are dogs will always find the one thing that you don’t want them to have and will eat it/hide it/roll in it.

harryloop · 21/08/2022 08:49

Well he seems absolutely fine this morning
Took him out had a wee and did his business twice no problems.
Came home had his breakfast and a drink and now playing with his ball and wagging his tail ..so fingers crossed he will stay okay

Have you dumped your ‘partner’ yet?

MotherOfWhippets · 21/08/2022 09:04

He'll be fine.

I have an 11 month old and I could list you the things the stripey twat has eaten but it would take too long. Most recent disaster was my entire tub of Egyptian Magic cream. The vet laughed when I called to ask them if I needed to worry Grin

Paper should pass through no problem. I found a nerf bullet when poo picking the other day.

All you need to do is make sure he is eating, drinking, weeing and pooing generally. If he gets blocked he will soon show signs of being uncomfortable. Also you must show a photo of said reprobate.

My puppy has snatched full poo bags from two people's hands and they came through all right. Four days the first time, two the second. Am going to do a set up with some but sprinkled with chilli paste.

This is literally the worst thing to do and all it’ll teach your dog is that a sore tummy and the shits aren’t very nice while you’ve to clean it up.

Brendabigbaps · 21/08/2022 09:44

Our dog eats tissues on a daily basis (she’s sneaky)
she ate a tooth the other day
dogs have surprisingly good constitutions

Thanks it's just because my partner said it was my fault and if he dies I'm to blame so I'm distraught now.
I love that dog so much
I just opened the fridge for milk and he dove in

He sounds lovely……
The dog will be fine, watch his poo over the next couple of days.

lickenchugget · 21/08/2022 09:54

I have labs who have eaten Chinese food from the side including the plastic boxes. Try not to worry

This is the little tinker ......

They're too cute to be mad at 😂

TitaniasAss · 21/08/2022 10:04

Glad the dog is doing ok.

On the other hand, your partner is a wanker.

GiveMeNovocain · 21/08/2022 10:09

I'd keep an eye on his poo and sure his worming is up to date if he's eaten raw sausage.
Your 'partner' sounds really unkind. It's not your fault dogs are canine dustbins 😢

Spidey66 · 21/08/2022 10:20

My dog would wolf down toilet roll like it was going out of fashion as a puppy. No harm done.

My old dog (well my parents dog) would eat all sorts, she had a fondness for chocolate and extra strong mints. She once ate half a box of Thorntons. This was in the 80s when it wasn't so widely known about how dangerous chocolate was for dogs so she didn't go to the vets. She lived for another 10 years, so no harm done obviously!

Your dog will be fine. Which is more than be said for your marriage!

Creepymanonagoatfarm · 21/08/2022 10:24

Maybe poo will come out ready bagged up?
As a dc our huge rotty ate shoes - my shoes - for a hobby. Dm carefully removing a hanging lace from her bum was hilarious! Every day coming home from school anticipated a new pair as dm had rushed out to replace them. We had those old push knob doors and she could easily get into my room. Once ate 8 easter eggs with foil. That ddog was bloody invincible!
In slight defence of your dp that first time of Massive Dpuppy Worry is awful! Hope he apologises though.

thereisonlyoneofme · 21/08/2022 13:02

My dog ate a leather lead once, it came out practically in one piece.

Isaidnoalready · 21/08/2022 16:48
