Just that

My best friend won €50,000

LovelyQuiche · 20/08/2022 11:11

I haven’t but I know someone’s who’s dad did. She’s estranged from him though

JimmiChoux · 20/08/2022 11:18

Yes I worked with a lady who's brother won a million, was probably ten years ago. It caused huge upset within the family that didn't win.

I won £3 this morning, woke to an email from the lottery saying news on my ticket.

When is your publication date for the article? I’ll see if I can round up a few more stories for you

I hate that - " news on your ticket" so you start to write your notice but it's only £2.50 Grin

The most I've won is like £116 one Christmas, wasn't a lot but was happy with it.

Something to make you smile though I guess

Oh no. Wish he shared!

The most I won on a ticket was 2000 pounds with 5 numbers, the following week with 5 numbers was only 400 pounds due to the amount of winners

I've won a few 50s now and again

MrsMoastyToasty · 20/08/2022 11:26

Not on the lottery but I once had a colleague who won £10k on the football pools. It was way back in the late 80's when that sort of money went a lot further than it would today.

Hi there OP, we are going to move this to the Chat topic as we feel it is better suited there.

My brother's uni friend did. No-one knows how much she won, but she dropped out of uni, bought a huge house and land, horses etc and has never worked and is now happily married with children.

I also had a friend whose parents won a substantial sum and gave each of the children £2m.

My parents won over £100k on the pools about 20 years ago. My father was a bit miffed because the following week his numbers/choices would have been £1m, but it was a nice win nonetheless!

unicormb · 20/08/2022 12:37

My great grandmother won whatever the equivalent of the pools was over there in Ireland in the 1930s. Used it to educate her kids, so both sons in established professions and both daughters qualified senior nurses. Not much leftover after that but she considered it money well spent.

Allmarbleslost · 20/08/2022 12:37

I work with a man who won £2 million. He's kept his job but planning an early retirement. Spent a fair whack renovating his house.

minticecreamisjustok · 20/08/2022 12:40

I have always wondered if 'news on your ticket' email is different somehow when you open it up, any bells and whistles with the big money or just same as winning £2.50.

My best friends husband's family won enough on the pools to buy a nice home.

theniceunderstandingone · 20/08/2022 12:44

No nothing. And I enter those ITV giveaways and do the lottery all the time 😤

lookthisway · 20/08/2022 12:44

Sadly I have never won anything substantial and don't know of anyone who has so surely it must be me soon, lol

GeorgeorRuth · 20/08/2022 12:46

I won £4.50 once, I decided to spend some and save some. 😉 I think I bought a loaf of bread and bottle of milk..I live the high life.🤣

Seriously though I don't know anyone who has but I know when we moved house a rumour went round we had won. It's funny what people will think.

Dimondsareforever · 20/08/2022 12:46

Due to win tonight. So will let you know … 😂😂😂

toffeechai · 20/08/2022 12:48

I won about £800 the first and only time I entered the national lottery hot picks thing which was nice!

I now just buy Premium Bonds as I can dream of winning a million without throwing money into a black hole.

GG1986 · 20/08/2022 12:58

Think £70 is the most I've won. I was watching the lottery at the time and the first 4 numbers were mine, it was very exciting! I was only about 21 at the time.

Haggisfish3 · 20/08/2022 13:03

A close relative won a million. Fascinating process. The email and message are only sent once and then auto delete. They spent it all on drink, drugs and cars. Sigh.

OnthePiste · 20/08/2022 13:19

A relative on DH's side won 100k on the premium bonds a couple of years ago. She has put it into a bond and not touched it since. Not given a penny to anyone.

alfagirl73 · 20/08/2022 14:59

The time between receiving that email and actually checking my lottery account is always interesting!

I've known a couple of people win big; one was a neighbour who won about £4m. Another was a friend of a friend who won a few million. The person had a small part-time job that didn't pay much but had a VERY expensive house in an expensive city - turned out they bought it outright with the lottery win - had enough left over to live a comfortable life and just took the job for something to do. They actually lived a pretty simple and private life - but in a very nice property and without any money worries.
