Eggy bread. How do you make yours?

Sopping bread? Heat high or low? I like mine but it’s not fluffy and sometimes more like omelette sitting on bread…

Medium heat, dip and drain.
I like mine with fruit loaf, or bagels, with cheese and/or bacon inside, covered in cinnamon and sugar, the list is endless.
What's really good is an eggy bread sandwich toasted in a sandwich toaster thingy.
If it's an omelette, you're not draining enough.

Beat egg and a bit of milk in a bowl. Put bread into the bowl and let it soak it all up, put in frying pan. Delicious.

I beat eggs in a bowl with a bit of milk, salt and pepper, fry lots of butter in the frying pan on a medium-high heat whilst the bread soaks into the bowl, drain the bread off back into the bowl and then fry it.

I find mine goes a bit omeletty when the bread hasn't been soaked enough.

Whilst the break soaks in the bowl* that should say.

BREAD even! 🤦🏼‍♀️

Whisk egg and milk
heat oil in pan
Dip bread in egg mixture... preferably in a flat bowl for even coverage.
Fry, turning regularly

Its a regular camping breakfast.

Dip bread in egg with a bit of cinnamon. Tiny bit of butter in pan. Fry until sealed. Finish off on oven on baking paper until crispy. Serve with a drizzle of honey. My daughter says I make the best eggy bread and I'm a terrible cook normally so that's high praise indeed.

Now I want eggy bread.

You need to dip it fully and then hold it above the bowl and let it drain a little before getting it into the pan.

BarrelOfOtters · 20/08/2022 09:49

Finishing off in oven….that could be it. And no, probably not draining enough.

Quick dip in beaten egg (with salt and pepper) on both sides then into frying pan on high heat. Comes out crispy. I hate soggy eggy bread.

AllPlayedOut · 20/08/2022 10:13

It's French toast to me but medium high heat. Stale bread so that it doesn't absorb too much of the egg mixture, a quick dip and turn to coat both sides and let it drip briefly to lose the excess mixture before it goes into the pan.

Dip in egg (no milk just beaten egg) then in frying pan in butter...sometimes I add the remaining bit of egg to the pan!
