Do you recognise this poem from my very limited description?

I heard it about 30 years ago and I can only remember bits of it and the bits I recall aren't massively accurate but hopefully you'll get the gist

It was describing love I suppose - or having fun with someone - and it went a little bit like this.

'The gift of laughter is like a drink to a thirsty man, the bringer of that laughter is the giver of that drink'

Now, it was nothing like that but close ish.

Anyone have a clue what I'm on about?
