ADD/Inattentive ADHD adult diagnosis

Ive suspected I’m suffering from the above for a few years now.
Im finding it hard to mask/cope anymore and I’ve requested a referral for assessment from my GP. I’m worried it will be refused though.
If you’ve been through the process of diagnosis as an adult I’d appreciate your insight please. Thanks

I suggest you join any of the ADHD women's groups on Facebook, they have lots of people in a similar situation. Also, podcasts by ADHDadultUK are very helpful and informative (a bit sweary and irreverent too, but that's ok)

I’m thinking of doing the same but not sure whether to. I know it can take a very long time to get anywhere. I wonder whether I’m just overthinking it and actually I’m nothing like adhd. Have you completed the initial assessment form that was made with WHO?

I’m true ADHD fashion I completely forgot I started this thread until it just popped up in threads I’m on. 🤦🏻‍♀️

@CrapBag39 Hello. I was diagnosed with ADD this year at the age of 43, after a long period of wondering whether I had something that could help explain a lot of my life events.

I ended up going private for the evaluation and subsequent treatment. The evaluation form was very thorough and required conversations with my family which in itself was enlightening.
