Ideas for making this next week not totally suck

Meant to be flying to Italy tomorrow - 18month old has developed chicken pox! Wider family trip so DH and DD 1 and 2 are still going, but I'm at home with a poxy baby and no car.

Any ideas of how to make this week not totally suck?

I guess enjoy the quieter moments at home. I’m assuming you’ll have evenings to yourself after the baby is in bed (presuming they aren’t too unwell).

make sure you get set up with all the food/magazines/and other treats you need.

Why no car? If there is any way to solve that I would because it gives you much more access to activities.

Poxy baby will only be poxy and contagious for a few days, is there any possibility of joining the holiday half way through?

If not, is there any family nearby who would be able to take baby for a few hours in the latter half of the week so you can get some time to yourself to do something for you?

Activities you can do at home:

  • anything in the bath, cool water will help with itching and you can put oats in a sock and run the water through that to make the bath more soothing. Freeze little toys in cups of water, or make up ice cubes with various food colourings then use them as bath toys to turn the water different colours and to free the toys.
  • fill a plastic storage box with bird seed and give baby some plastic scoops then let her play with it in the garden moving seeds from scoop to scoop, burying little toys.
  • give DC a cup of water and a paintbrush and let her paint the garden

Get PoxClin mousse for the poxy baby! Poor you. Hope you get some quiet relaxing time FlowersCake

Oh what a pain OP. Have DD1 and 2 had it? If not then isn’t it quite likely they’re incubating it?

@minipie 1 and 2 have both had it luckily so not concerned on that front.

@FatAgainItsLettuceTime DH needs to take the car to meet with family and get them all to the airport - too late notice to make other arrangements and we usually only need one car. I did check whether we might join later but most airlines say 7 days after the first spots - which would be departure day!
Thank you for the useful activity suggestions! I'll definitely get on them with her

@Whowhatwherewhenwhynow Have managed to get a shopping delivery slot for tomorrow with a number of treats on (for me). This definitely feels like a wine situation ☺️

If you can get Head and shoulders classic clean shampoo and add a squirt into the bath to make bubbles and bath them in it twice a day it helps to clear them up and stop itching. We had this recommended to us when our house got them recently and all the official pox lotions were out of stock.

Can you drop them to the airport?
