Dish cloths. If you can bear the excitement.

Currently have white cotton dish cloths. They go an absolutely revolting colour almost straight away, washing and bleaching doesn’t really help.
Anyone have anything better? I want long lasting that I can wash.

I can bear the excitement (just) and I would like to know too. We have washable kitchen roll. It does last a few washes but it looks horrendous.

Whereland · 19/08/2022 15:38

Never mind the colour I find they smell absolutely vile after barely a day?!

Ha ha - the excitement!

This sort of thing is good. Washes loads of times and small enough that it dries well when not used, rather than staying damp and smelly. These are the post ones, often available in poundland, etc too.

We have a pack of coloured micro fibre ones too. Blue for the bathroom, orange for the kitchen, green for dusting/general cleaning and red for Very Dirty Things.

Ours are alright if I squeeze it out and drape it over the tap. It’s really visible then though!

Use Google mate

SheWoreYellow · 19/08/2022 15:42

Oddly, we have microfibre cloths for Other Cleaning. I am a bit suspicious about using them for properly wet stuff. I’ll be brave and try them 😂
They slightly set my teeth on edge too.

This is my kind of thread! Thanks for asking this OP because I need to find some that I can wash and will last. I’m currently using the typical white ones with red edging from Wilkos. They looking really white and clean for the first couple of weeks and then end up in the bin. I need something reusable and hygienic for wiping down kitchen worktops and the dining table.

JustSortYoursefOut · 19/08/2022 15:45

I only ever use white dishcloths. I never used bleach on them. I use a cloth for wiping down the worktops and doing the washing-up, then the cloth goes into the washing basket. I get through 2 or 3 cloths a DAY, sometimes more. I wash them and teatowels on a very hot wash, and hang them out to dry on the line.

sparkypupp · 19/08/2022 15:58

E-cloths 👍🏻

mondaytosunday · 19/08/2022 16:02

I use the towelling type. I don't find the flat cotton ones do anything other than get wet and manky. I have about ten of them and swap them out several times a week.

VaVaVoombangabang · 19/08/2022 16:11

Asda knitted dishcloths, never had a smell on them but do put them a squirt of bleach and water in the dish on a nighttime

amicissimma · 19/08/2022 16:16

J cloths. Rinse and hang over the tap. Once a day put wet into the microwave for 2 minutes.

Replace when I think of it regularly.

MintJulia · 19/08/2022 16:33

I use white cotton ones. A Clean one every day which is thrown in the wash last thing at night. I'm not bothered by colour, as long as I know they are sterile.

mackthepony · 19/08/2022 16:43

Dh recently bought some grey dishcloths. Which look old and gross but at least don't show the dirt / stains

Problems eh

ToffeeForEveryone · 19/08/2022 16:43

Large stack of microfibre cloths in different colours: green for kitchen, blue for bathroom, yellow for dusting, pink for heavy dirt. Kitchen ones used for 1-2 days max (we have a dishwasher so just for surfaces) then into the hot wash with the other towels. Nothing lasts forever so once they look ragged or stained replace them.
