Creepy things...things you'd like an answer to!

Ever had something creepy or unexplained happen to you?

I'm not talking paranormal stuff here but instead something which is likely to have been done by a human but you never quite got to the bottom of?

My creepy thing! My mum once bought a hair product from eBay and it was a bit of a rip off. She was quite new to eBay at the time so instead of contacting the seller, she just left a negative review. It was worded quite politely but nonetheless, no seller likes a neg!

Anyway, a few days later she came home and there was a small (ring box size) parcel on the doorstep. It had no postage on it so must have been hand-delivered. On the front it had her name and address and in the top right hand corner in handwriting, 'From Babylis'. Babylis was the company who made the product she'd bought but not the name of the small firm who'd sold it to her.

Anyway, she unwrapped it and inside was a small box and in that, a piece of paper which looked to be torn off a letterhead for NHS Scotland. There was a handwritten phone number on it. She decided to dial the number and it was for her local branch of MIND/mental health charity!

Extremely creepy. We assumed it was a weird prank/retaliation from the seller as the 'from Babylis' seemed too much of a coincidence.

Mum debated whether to ring the police but chatted to a friend who's a police officer and he said it was unlikely they could do anything about it. It was just creepy and not really threatening as such.

I went on to eBay and blocked this seller on her account but as there was no proof it was from them, couldn't take it any further.

Ever experience something a bit creepy or unusual that you never quite got an answer for?

Weird! Perhaps get this moved to 'The Unexplained' topic if you don't get replies here, as that's where all the 'woo' threads gather!

Received two x phone cases on Amazon addressed to a male name unknown to me. Two! Nobody I know knew the name
Amazon couldn't trace it and said it was maybe a gift but was addressed to a random bloke.

Possibly creepy...but I thought about it this week.
If a child who was 14 went missing 15 years ago. How can they obtain a job without their National Insurance number? If they can't I would assume that either they have sadly died or still be homeless.

They can access their NI number? Why wouldn't they be able to?

If they accessed it, surely they'd be found? They might not wish to be found?

Nothing of particular intrigue, but I would like to know

Do parallel universes exist like in the tv series sliders.
Can time travel actually be possible and not just mathematically e.g. Like back to the future.
When you travel in time, does their become two of you, or is it a parallel universe, where it's just one of you (the traveller) and that's now your universe ?

Large spiders only ever appear in our house when my husband is out or away.

Do they have intelligence that they can recognise the sound of his car pulling away?

custardbear · 19/11/2022 11:43

I've mentioned this a few times over the years, but when my mums mum died when I was 9, the funeral day was a terrible storm, lightning hit our house and blew a bacolite socket, so no major damage. My mum always said it was her mum saying goodbye, and when she died she would cause a thunderstorm. She died on 28 June 2012, there was a huge supercell thunderstorm, it's even on wiki! massive storms across the country, two were over midlands and north west where my brother and I live - it was surreal!

@Sproutingpotatoes Did your mum have any idea of where this seller was based, if they are local then I guess they might feel suitably aggrieved to drive over and do that. Can't imagine a seller driving hundreds of miles, unless seriously bonkers. (not saying it's acceptable in either case btw) otherwise.

Every damn time!

I sold a Disney animator tinker-bell doll on eBay a few years ago so quite a large doll. The buyer complained that it was damaged and sent me a picture of the doll with a huge stain on its face which I knew wasn’t there when I’d sent it out, and I’m pretty sure it was a different doll. I fully refunded her but asked if she’s send it back to me if I paid postage which she did but when it arrived she had decapitated it. Just creepy and so petty!

This is a scam called brushing…..from google:

What Is Amazon Brushing?
Third-party online sellers engage in “brushing” scams in an attempt to raise product ratings on websites such as Amazon. The seller pays a third party to purchase their products through fake buyer accounts they’ve created.
After the purchase, the item gets delivered to a real address. Then the seller can write a positive review of their own product from the fake Amazon buyer account.

Davethecat2000 · 21/11/2022 12:50

When I was 16 I had a relationship with an older man.

My parents were aware and fine with it. One day my mum got an anonymous phone call from a girl saying she wanted to speak to me about him. My mum said I was at school and could she take a number for me to call her back.

The girl then launched into a diatribe about how my then bf was the father of her child and wouldn't take any responsibility for them etc, and named me and said ' I just want to warn Davethecat about what he's like'

She wouldn't leave a phone number, and asked when I would be home and would call again. She never did.

My mum told me when I got home, I spoke to my bf and he honestly knew nothing about it. Know it sounds suss but honestly things about this bloke mean it was pretty unlikely!

She never called again, but my mum suspects it was a particular girl in my class who had some MH issues, and possibly for some reason wanted to try and get me in trouble with my parents.

I never found out for sure.. less creepy and more irritating than anything.

Btw i still know the bf.. he's nearly 60 now, been married for 20 years and never fathered a child!
