How do you stop hot flushes when you can't take HRT?

My hot flushes started at 48 and I'm now 52. I've been in menopause since 50. I'm getting so pissed off with this long hot summer and being clammy & damp 24/7. I have to wear my hair permanently tied up or I have trickles of sweat running down my neck. I'm sick to death of the constant soggy bra band. I am my own walking heatwave. Any clothes are too much. How much longer do you think it'll last? I can't take HRT because breast/reproductive cancers run in the family. I eat healthily and am a healthy bmi. Any ideas?

My Dr. suggested a low dose of antidepressants and said this would be effective for hot flushes and other symptoms.

I opted for HRT though, so no idea how well this would work.

Have you tried sage tablets? Not scientifically proven but some people swear by it. Might be worth a try

I thought that the current advice was that having a family history of breast cancer no longer was a contraindication for taking HRT. Have you spoken with a menopause or hormone specialist recently. Or maybe check the current NICE Guidelines.

Black cohosh tablets.

Also, change your diet to almost vegetarian. Cut way vack on sugar including alcohol. Go for whole grains instead of white (rice, pasta, bread).
