How to progress in life? Feeling behind

Im 26, I went to Uni and studied something I'm no longer interested in. Im now working in a ok paid job in an office, I enjoy it but I'd like to earn more money and there is little progression available.

I get about £1750 a month after tax each month and have £14,000 in savings. I dont have any family to guide me. How can I make my savings go further rather it just being sat there? What could I do as a side hustle to earn more money? I just want to have a nice life and not worry about money as I dont get financial support in any way but I have no idea what I can do!

Any guidance would be great

Define. Nice life

You have savings and a job you enjoy

Decide what is important to you - moving forward on things that mean something to you will be a lot easier.

If you plan to definitely buy a property one day, and some of the 14k is towards a deposit, look into a Lifetime ISA (the govt will add £1000 if you put in £4000, the limit per year). So you could put some in this year, some in next. Ours is with Nutmeg. (but you lose the gov money and pay fees if you don't spend it on a property).

Others will have better info about savings.

I'm saving to be able to buy a place to live and call my own eventually. I just see people my age doing so much better than me, being able to buy nice things and go away on holidays etc. I feel like I am always watching where my money goes and always buy the cheapest things I can to be able to put some money away each month. I feel like if I had a side job or something like that I could have an additional income which would help or at least have my savings grow somewhere by being invested..

Where do you live - what is cheap house going up cost - that tells you what your saving target

Once you have that deposit you'll be able to spend more

Other people have double income , less savings , inheritance, different priorities

Second job or better job are the only options

Tbf I think you sound like you're doing well with the savings! Are you currently living with parents or renting?

What sort of job do you do? There's usually a way up the ladder!

If there's no progression in your current job look for something else!

That's a huge amount to have in savings at your age!!

Dont wait to buy a nice house. Buy what you can now and stop wasting money on rent.
