Should I get another driving instructor?

I've had five one hour lessons. My instructor is much older than me and he's a man I'm a woman. He has made some very suggestive comments from the word go, has mentioned my clothes and why am I not wearing shorts in the hot weather. Starts commenting on other women walking past the car and what they're wearing and how sexy they look. Basically I feel very uncomfortable and I'm dreading my next lesson.

I don't think I'm being unreasonable to get someone else, I've spoken to two other women who think it's awful but the men I've spoken to think it's just "banter"... Confused

Gross. You need to feel safe and comfortable, this guy is a creeper. Your feelings about this are quite enough to change instructor, you don't need any other reason.

Eww.. get a new instructor

By the way I know it's completely obvious it's just very slim pickings where I live but I think I'll just have to wait and get someone who isn't so gross.

Highly unprofessional!

Make a complaint to driving standards body and look for a new instructor. You cannot learn effectively if you're dreading your next lesson.

Arenanewbie · 18/08/2022 14:42

Get a new instructor. I was taking driving lessons for more then an year. My instructor never commented on my clothes or any other women’s clothes. He never mentioned word “sexy” at all.

MintyGreenDreams · 18/08/2022 14:43

I had a woman instructor she was brilliant

KimMG · 18/08/2022 14:49

Get a new instructor ASAP. I was a driving instructor ( male ) for seven years - I would NEVER say things like that - you need to be at ease so you can learn, not dreading what your instructor may say next.
Good luck !

He's sleazy and unprofessional.

passmesonetea · 18/08/2022 15:03

Thanks all
I think I've actually found someone else. He's said lots more than what I've posted
I just don't want him hounded people younger than me who may not speak out

You know what the answer is here, glad you might have found an alternative.

godmum56 · 18/08/2022 15:12

I wouldn't have let it get to 5 lessons tbh

passmesonetea · 18/08/2022 15:56

I agree I shouldn't have left it so long.

If men say it's only banter then you need to put them right. Objectifying you and making you uncomfortable is not banter, twats.

TugboatAnnie · 18/08/2022 16:00

Forgot to say, needs reporting.

catandcoffee · 18/08/2022 18:12

Report him for the sake of females who are afraid to speak up.
Dirty Pervy man.😡

Carlycat · 18/08/2022 23:32

I learnt to drive with a female instructor for exactly this reason. Find a new instructor and report the creepy twat

passmesonetea · 19/08/2022 14:11

New instructor now found.
I'm going to write a full complaint to the DVSA as there was lots more than what I've written.
Thanks all.
