Locke & Key - worth watching?

Looking for something new to watch with DH in the evenings. Looks interesting but read that it's aimed at teens? then on the other hand I also don't like too much creepiness (like Paranormal activity) as it keeps me up! anyone watched it and could recommend (or not!)

I loved it! Just finished the last episode last night. It's a good story and I like the characters. However, there are bits which are badly written or don't make sense so don't set your expectations too high! It's definitely not scary either.

KittyCatsby · 18/08/2022 12:19

I've just watched Ragnouk (sp ) it's from Norway but has been dubbed into English . Its quite good and not really gory , the bits that could be are quite mild and wouldn't keep you up.

Definitely has a teen vibe, but an easy watch. It has the ‘Ben’ actor from Falling Skies 😊

I wasn't that impressed. Its very teen-y. Some of the acting is cringingly bad.

Itsthelookitsthelook · 18/08/2022 12:27

As some others have said it is quite teen-y but I loved it. I wont watch anything horror or paranormal as it gives me anxiety and nightmares. But I was fine with this.

Tha first time I saw an ad for this, I thought it sounded like life had gone horribly wrong for Biff, Chip & Kipper.

i enjoyed the first series, struggled to get into the second.

ClocksGoingBackwards · 18/08/2022 12:30

I’m a complete wimp and get creeped out by the most minor of creepy things, but it was fine. A bit trashy but in a good way, we enjoyed it.

Thank you everyone. Sounds like it's definitely not too scary for me. But a bit cringy maybe... I'll have to give it a go myself I think

Any other shows similar that are a bit fantasy/horror that are bit more grown up?

I don't mind slash/gore etc but anything paranormal that's toooo creepy and I can't sleep for weeks!!!

Of a similar ilk we have and enjoyed watching Fringe, Black Mirror and some of American Horror Story. Oh and Penny Dreadful, and Hannibal.

What's The Witcher Like?

Thank you 🙏

Vampire diaries? I loved that too. It's a bit cringey/teen drama at first but it gets better.

babblingbumblingbandofbaboons · 18/08/2022 16:21

Witcher is fab - definitely not scarier than American Horror Story. And Henry Cavill is just beautiful.

Have you watched / did you like Stranger Things?

Umbrella Academy is also well with a watch - more zany drama than anything else, but really goood story!

LuckyAmy1986 · 18/08/2022 16:25

I don't think DH would watch the Vampire Diaries! I have always wanted to though!

Yes loved Stranger Things!

I've heard good things about The Umbrella Academy so that might be a shout. And yes HC is beautiful I agree!!

We just finished S3 of Locke of and Key and it was GREAT! Def recommend 👍

Coughee · 23/08/2022 22:44

Got another recommendation as this has been resurrected! The Boys on Amazon Prime. Very gory, very silly, funny and entertaining.

Technophobic · 23/08/2022 22:47

Have you watched Paper Girls?

Kanaloa · 23/08/2022 22:52

I think if you liked Hannibal and AHS, Locke & Key isn’t going to be up your street - to me it’s very much something to watch with your kids more than something you’d look forward to watching alone. I found it dull in parts but DD liked it.

LuckyAmy1986 · 28/08/2022 21:27

We went with The Witcher and are loving it!
