Anyone know about locum advert for NHS?

If you’ve been a locum for 12 months, and it might be extended, will the post be advertised again even if they intend on keeping you on?

Not if they are planning to extend your contract, no.

Has your job been advertised? Could there be more than one post available? Or an exuberant HR person? Ours seems to have no clue who is leaving or staying on.

No it’s not been advertised. Just wondered if it would be!

We just email HR and they issue a contract with a new end date.

Advertising is a massive headache (need to apply for a VAP, put it through Trac, get it into NHS jobs, etc) that nobody would do that if they had any alternative.

We've certainly had locum contracts extended without readvertising. If you've got someone who can do the job, is doing the job, and wants to continue doing the job, it would seem daft to go through a time consuming and expensive process.
