Is it still cheaper after 9pm?

Do you mean the 7 / 7 thing? I think that went years ago

JanglyBeads · 17/08/2022 20:49

Are you on a tariff which gives cheaper electricity at night time? Look at your bill and it will tell you, or if you have two meters.

That's the only way it would be cheaper at certain times (more like after midnight though).

It all depends which tariff you're on. Mine isn't cheaper at night. I think they're quite unusual now, but I think economy 7 is still around.

JanglyBeads · 17/08/2022 20:53

Economy 7 is the most common type of variable tariff (tariff means a system for charging you), it gives you 7 hrs of cheaper electricity but the other 17 hrs are more expensive than a normal tariff.

You might still be on a dual tariff if you have storage heaters - maybe they'll make a comeback with electric cars becoming more popular. In the past, we had Economy 7 (I'm sure we had Economy 10 too) meters, but the day time rate was significantly higher than single rate.

I have no idea. Need to check! Just remembered it from ages ago.
