Reasons my child tantrummed today.

Hello everyone. There's probably many threads of this but looking for some solidarity moments of the most ridiculous reasons your child has tantrummed.

Today - DD 21 months had an absolute horrid Henry moment in tescos down the tampax aisle as she wanted to launch a whole shelf of extra long winged on the floor. (We we're walking as I only had a basket)

She ended up carrying round a pack of always ultra round in the end.

Also - went into absolute meltdown mode as I removed the lid from MY yogurt. She had her own...

Anyone else?? Toddlers are confusing things at times. Please tell me your ridiculous tantrum stories!

Great thread!
3 year old ds had a few...
wouldn't let him have an ice lolly at 8am, wanted to watch blippi on YouTube and not Netflix, he said he was a grown up and I said he wasn't.
16 month old dd, I wouldn't let her empty the kitchen cupboard onto the floor , i tried to put her down , I asked her nicely not to hit me with a wooden spoon .
There have been tears from all three of us today

Chocolatiestchocolate · 17/08/2022 19:51

Because i wouldn't let him in the pool as was absolutely chucking it down.

Because i wouldnt let him empty potty in the kitchen bin! And took it to the toilet.. How unreasonable i was!

Hes 2

My three year old was crying in the car after nursery because she was insisting that she and her sister (11 months) were like twins, and I said they weren’t quite like twins… “but mummy, you’re upsetting me!”. My dad is a twin, which I mentioned to her at the weekend- I wish I hadn’t!

Then at home she was beside herself again when I asked her to come and have her tea, because she’d unzipped a cushion, couldn’t get it zipped back up again, but was enraged when I tried to help.

TBF she is definitely worse when tired!

barneymcgroo · 17/08/2022 19:55

We're on holiday at the moment.

Didn't want to put his outdoor clothes on.

Didn't want to take his outdoor clothes off.

Danikm151 · 17/08/2022 20:02

Because I told him 4 stories before bed was enough…. He won 😂

Cakecakecake5 · 17/08/2022 20:03

Took 4yr & 2yr old to park this morning.

4yr old decided to run away numerous times when I said it was home time.

I eventually had to bellow for him to come back as I was scared he'd run to the road whilst 2yr old was howling in my arms trying to escape too.

Toddler lost a wellie (went back to find it) & 4yr old howled through town on the walk home.

Strop after strop today & hitting me, doesn't love me, I'm not his best mummy....The joys.

Came home & cried because I'd screeched at him & the whole thing was a disaster.

I need a lie down!

JennyForeigner · 17/08/2022 20:03

Because mummy has a headache and declined his efforts to fix it with the wooden hammer from his tool set

cvidnurse · 17/08/2022 20:09

Ugh! Joining this from a shitty day with a 2 year old and a 1 year old,

1 year old cried because

  • Wanted to be picked up
  • Wanted to walk
  • Hit herself in the eye with her toy
  • Fell over multiple times and it's a why not cry over that kind of day

2 year old

  • Wanted specific show on Netflix
  • Wanted weetabix not porridge
  • (Gave weetabix and they are it all) Cried it wasn't porridge
  • Younger sister took her toy
  • Wanted to get toilet paper on their own
  • Wanted specific food for dinner that is not in the house
  • Wanted sister to sit outside in the rain
  • Didn't want sister sat on the floor
  • I looked at them
  • Daddy looked at them

There was more but this was therapeutic enough writing it down. Kids are assholes sometimes. Love them... But yeah

Sillystripytail · 17/08/2022 20:12

We went for a walk and he took his baby doll in his buggy. He lost it when a man walking past stopped the buggy from blowing into the road with the wind. Then again when a different man said hello to our dog. He has a real issue with strangers talking to us🥴

Chattycathydoll · 17/08/2022 20:17

I called her a little sausage, forgetting of course that she was at the time a ‘two year old rainbow shape shifter dragon with purple eyes and shiny wings that turn pink and green and also has ice power and lava power and…’

LilliaJones · 17/08/2022 20:24

Honestly these are all funny, but enough to make anyone cry out of frustration.

Maybe we should just Chuck all of our toddlers in a safe room together and gather round a fire rocking back and forth with a glass of something strong.

DD has refused to go to bed. She's currently having a wrestling match with the cot mobile (to be fair she's too old for it anyway) and I'm sat slumped against the wall in the hallway about to cry.

Please. Go. To. Bed.

We're just starting to trial the potty.

Maybe I should put it back in the cupboard...Wine

He started 2 days ago but normally asked for nappy to wee.
Today he took nappy off and refused one back on 9 till 7 no nappy no accident.
Tried a few months ago and it was a disaster. He made himself sick when asked him to sit on potty. So we didn't push it and left in lounge to get used to it.

Chattycathydoll · 17/08/2022 20:51

Mine’s not even a toddler yet still tantrums and resisting bedtime x.x

Tbf she has ADHD. But I wish she would go to sleeeeep I’m so tired

Bloatstoat · 17/08/2022 20:52

Many, many today but the weirdest was because the grated cheese the 3 year old had added to her couscous was touching the couscous. When I got her a new plate and put cheese on one side and couscous on the other, she cried because she wanted cheese with her couscous.
You cannot win.

FruitToast · 17/08/2022 21:18

6 year old:
Her brother sat on the trampoline wrong.
Her brother wanted to play the game she just invented but she didn't want to any more.
She told her brother to hit her with a cup and then was upset when he did.

4 year old:
I wouldn't let him drive the car home after nursery.
His chair was wet after he poured his cup of water on it (the cup he then used to hit his sister).
I wouldn't let him drink the bath water he'd just defiantly stood up and peed in whilst laughing hysterically.
I tried to read him a book before bed but he wanted me to go to Sainsbury's and get a magazine instead.

All occuring in the hours between 5pm and 7:30pm after a long day at work🙄

Weekendersonourown · 17/08/2022 21:26

OK not an actual toddler but my 4 (nearly 5) year old took against the post office for some reason. Happy to visit all the other shops we needed to go to, all of whjch were boring as hell. Grump central at the post office and all the way home!

LilliaJones · 17/08/2022 21:32

Toddlers are just unhinged sometimes aren't they. It's been a long day for us all 🥱

Anyone else's child still awake?? DD had a meltdown in her cot so DH is now giving it a go. I can hear it's not going well and now Thomas the tank is on the telly upstairs.

I think the heats thrown her out of sync but she hasn't been awake past 9 since she was a small baby!

Sod's law it's the day she's been an absolute arse and tested my last living nerve

This made me laugh. Sorry 🤣.

Maverickess · 17/08/2022 21:42

I remember many of these types of things and you all have my sympathy, they're kind of funny but soooo infuriating at the same time.

Mines a late teen now, and tantrums still happen - and it's results day tomorrow 🙈 at least I can fuck off out the house and leave her to her own devices at this age though!

One I particularly remember was her belting me with a toy (there was apparently a reason for this at the time but I can't recall it) and then a lie down, kicking and screaming tantrum because I said "Ouch" apparently she wanted to hit me but it wasn't supposed to hurt because if she hurt me then I won't play with her any more, therefore I should have not been hurt by a large hard plastic toy.

🍷🍷🍷 To you all dealing with these tiny dictators 🍷🍷🍷

Leafy3 · 17/08/2022 21:42

wouldn't let him have an ice lolly at 8am

Tbf that was pretty unfair of you
I had an ice lolly for breakfast the other day #heatwaveperks

Littletikes41 · 17/08/2022 21:42

Ds has been saying all day he wants to 'go to my mountains house'. He had a meltdown when I told him we didn't have a house in the mountains.

pinkunicorns54 · 17/08/2022 21:48

Because Daddy took their jumper off them when they got to nursery and they wanted to hold it 🤣
