Boys Haircuts

Out of interest - how often does your boy get a haircut? My eldest DS11’s hair seems to grow like crazy, we get is cut at the barber and it looks great but then suddenly the style has gone and it’s back to just fuzzy hair! Wondering how often your boys get haircuts?

Usually about every 6 to 8 weeks.

PinkButtercups · 17/08/2022 17:22

DS 3 about every month. BIL is a barber and he cuts it for him but his hair grows quick like myself and his fathers hair.

It depends on how each persons hair grows and the style in which they wear it. I would say at least every 6-8 weeks after every half term at school so he goes back looking smart, but it may be necessary for more frequent haircuts - maybe every 3-4 weeks.

You could try getting his haircut differently - maybe longer, maybe shorter, whichever works to make it look more presentable. Short hair seems to be the general consensus for more manageable hair, but a longer style may also work?

Ds1 4 weeks.
Ds2 6 weeks but really could do with 4 weekly.
Definitely need cutting more often than dd who is 6 weekly but can go longer if we're busy.

Frazzled2207 · 04/09/2022 18:55

Well I know mine had it cut on the first day of the holidays and that was 6 weeks ago.
it needs doing again but that is partly because they both have long fringes that quickly get into their eyes.
the back isn’t too bad at all. But I will take them for new haircuts in the next fortnight.

dementedpixie · 04/09/2022 18:56

2-3 times a year. He is 15 and has collar length hair and a longish fringe. He gets it cut when the fringe reaches his chin and the back is too long and annoys him. He goes to my hairdresser rather than the barber as they just want to cut it all off

MrsJBaptiste · 04/09/2022 18:58

I think they should go every 6 weeks, they go every 6-8 weeks and it's bad...

SunshineClouds1 · 04/09/2022 19:01

Every 4 weeks.

Depends on the style of his hair, does it need product in to style it?

DomesticBlisters · 04/09/2022 19:22

Once every year or two 😂

He's 8 and loves his long hair, im lucky if he will let me trim the very end now and then.

Is this hairstyle okay for my 11 year old!? I feel it’s time to get him a slightly smarter hairstyle now he’s getting older but I’m worried this will look too mature and short. He’s got hair just like in the first photo at present and I’ve spoke to our barber who says the second photo style would suit well.I like the style, but not sure if a fade etc will make him look too grown up!

im probably just over thinking it, but I know once we go short, he won’t grow it out again 🥹. He’s been mentioning that he wants short hair like his friends, and school have said it’s a bit long too (which I don’t agree with). He’s never even had a clipper haircut before, so this feel a really big deal!

What are your thoughts?

At 11 I would let him if that's what he wants.

FlirtyMelons · 04/12/2022 21:33

My DSs need theirs cutting every 4 weeks really but their hairdresser costs £22 😱 so they look scruffy for a while longer.

I don’t like that style , I prefer his hair as it is, but as a PP says, it’s his hair so let him do what he wants .

WorkCleanRepeat · 04/12/2022 21:38

4-6 weeks. it does look quite scruffy when left 6 weeks though.

boys haircuts nowadays are complicated i would suggest to start looking at some of the popular boys haircuts 2024 - most of the current haircuts are inspird by athletes or soccer players. pay attention to the trend and respect your boy voice and taste. it is a form of self expression
