Was talking to a colleague in Dublin who mentioned that new students for Uni in Dublin are having to stay in hotels because of lack of accommodation.
Stories across twitter at alarming regularity regarding flats being leased via a bidding system for hundreds above the rate advertised.
The worst story I saw was a renter who called the estate agent to enquire for photos of a flat to be told it had already been leased without photos OR viewing.
What needs to happen here?
Availability on rentals has completely dried up, and sky rocketing house prices and mortgage rates just widen the gap to buy.
Am worried that we are literally held hostage to a landlords whims now, because we would not be able to find another rental property to move into!
