What’s your ideal climate?

Inspired by the recent threads between the heat lovers / haters, I was thinking about my perfect climate. Totally hypothetical and unscientific, purely based on your preferences. I think mine would be:

  • 9 months of sunny summer weather, ranging between 26 - 31 degrees, with a very light breeze. All rain necessary to keep things verdant and healthy to be between 2am - 4am.
  • 1 month of Autumn with blue skies, crispy leaves etc - with temps ranging between 10 - 15 degrees.
  • One month of ‘proper’ winter, with lots of snow, although no wind.
  • One month of perfect spring, breeze, blossom, lambs etc. Temps around 15 - 20 degrees, mostly sunny.
How about you?

I always thought it would be nice to move somewhere hot, but the last week has put me completely off that.

I think the nice late spring / early autumn days are best. Bright, sunny, 21 degrees with a nice breeze would suit me fine most days.

Maybe a month or two of autumnal cool and cold/snowy weather for a change.

Wickywickyyow · 16/08/2022 21:57

1 month summer
1 month winter
5 months autumn
5 months sprung

Makinglists · 16/08/2022 22:03

3 mths summer around 20- 24c
3mths autumn around 10-15c with 1 month storms
3mths winter 0-10c 1mth storms
3mths spring 10-15c
That would be assuming heating bills not being massive and storms do not do massive damage and harm humans/animals etc

Oh yeah, forgot about storms! I will allow two - three really interesting but not at all damaging storms a year.

November to Jan cold crisp with snow from 20-31st December (but not crazy enough to stop transport etc) - lovely for coats and scarves and boots.
Feb to April spring with temps at 15-19 degrees
May - August sunny 25 degrees max with light showers once a fortnight
Sept / October crisp jumper boots but no coat (maybe hat) beautiful coloured leaves and conkers - beautiful storms too

whenwillthemadnessend · 16/08/2022 22:18

@Smogtopia

I like your plan

May I add the showers only occur on a weds and or at night. No weekend rain.

Bloodybridget · 16/08/2022 22:21

I'll have pretty much the same as @Smogtopia thanks! A bit more rain, particularly in spring and summer; I like plants to get enough rainwater, and hate seeing dried-up grass and dry waterways.

Cantreadwontread · 16/08/2022 22:32

I’ll move to your country OP. Do I need a visa? Any big bitey insects at all?

Sudename · 16/08/2022 22:36

Permanent late spring weather and rain overnight only

Tallulasdancingshoes · 16/08/2022 22:38

I don’t like any extremes so no snow or ice. I don’t mind it a bit chilly but hate scraping ice off the car and driving in snow/ice. But Nothing too hot either, maybe up to around 25 in summer. Not really sure where would have this type of climate? Possibly northern France? Or somewhere in New Zealand.

lollipoprainbow · 16/08/2022 22:40

12 months of autumn

Hedgesfullofbirds · 16/08/2022 22:56

6 months of late spring equivalent to late April/early May when everything is verdant, green and full of promise and 6 months of mid autumn to allow living things to have a period of rest and dormancy. Copious rain, at least once a week and temperatures NEVER above 22 degrees

OneCup · 16/08/2022 23:01

10 months of autumn
1 month of summer
1 month of winter

SpacePotato · 16/08/2022 23:10

9 months of sunny summer weather, ranging between 26 - 31 degrees, with a very light breeze

This would finish me off. Far too hot for far too long. I'd be a permanent sweaty mess and get no sleep either.

DangerouslyBored · 16/08/2022 23:16

Cold, crisp and sunny. Like Swiss Alp weather in March. I love the sun but don’t want the heat, so sunny, cold days are perfect for me.

I went off hot, sunny weather after living in the Med. Endless hot sunny days soon lost their appeal and I prayed for rain. Was genuinely so happy to get back to rainy old England in October!

Watchthesunrise · 16/08/2022 23:23

your plan, but without the snow (I hate snow, it means the place is so grey and wet). Instead, can I please have crisp Winter days with clear cloudless skies.

ChestnutGrove · 16/08/2022 23:25

My perfect day is a sunny Spring day. I love all the flowers and being cool. I hate hot, sweaty, waspie, humid weather so I'd have none of that. Maybe Spring all year round for me.
