Passport renewal query

Hi, I am looking to renew my British passport and change to my married name. We got married in America and only received certified copies of the marriage certificate, not an original, but HMPO are asking for original only documents to support a change of name. Had anyone had to deal with this before? If so, how did you get around it other than using your maiden name again? Many thanks for help anyone can give.

Have you called them and checked they definitely won’t accept it?

if they won’t the only thing I can think of is changing your name by deed poll and sending the deed poll certificate - is that an option for you?

Thank you, both good suggestions. I haven’t called due to the chaos for urgent renewals. And mine isn’t urgent. Didn’t think about changing my name by deed poll - I can definitely do that. Everything else is in my married name. Just not my passport.
