Payment issue

I’ve recently moved into a new house and paid my first gas bill by bank transfer however I’ve forgotten to put my account reference number on the payment and now British Gas don’t have a record of the payment (or possibly can’t be bothered to look ) . Any suggestions what I can do

It will either be in a holding account with BG's bank or will get sent back. Your bank would have to do a bank trace on the payment to find out where it ended up.

Hi, I could you email them a copy of your bank statement with there payment showing so they can link it up ?

They should have a unapplied credits account. You'll probably need to provide proof of payment.

(At least that's what happened when I worked for another utility company).

I went on live chat and they asked for transaction ID etc so they say it should be sorted . Hopefully anyway
