Where to buy suitcases?

Going away at the end of August, for a week in Greece. There's me, DH and 8yo dd.

We have no luggage at all apart from a small hard shelled cabin sized suitcase which I use for weekends away.

Where's the best place to buy suitcases on a budget? Will cheaper ones be absolutely rubbish? I'm not sure what size to get!

Matalan usually have good deals on the IT luggage. I always use that brand and never had any trouble. It's also super light so you can pack more

TK Maxx often has good luggage

Size depends on your luggage allowances. Jet2 alllow 22kg for cabin baggage so a big case is fine unless you plan anything especially heavy. TUI is 15kg as standard so id go for the medium

Thank you. We are going with TUI but have 20kg each. I don't think dd's stuff will take up much room so 3x medium might be ok!

Don't buy one from an auction in New Zealand:

Argos, TKMaxx, Matalan and some of the big supermarkets do the lightweight ones.

TK Maxx is my go to.
You don't want a large suitcase. Thankfully I weighed it approximately on the bathroom scales before I got to the airport, but I had 40kg in a large suitcase. That is way over anyone's luggage allowance.

I prefer soft cases. DH prefers hard. Go see what is available.
Strongly recommend getting something coured, not black. Much easier to spot on the baggage carousel.

Do a trial packing to see how much it weighs and approximate volume. So you get an idea of the size you need and whether your packing plan is realistic in terms of what the airline allows.

TK Maxx are usually good and reasonably price. Get a colour - definitely not black.
