I did a body pump class yesterday and a tabata 30 min session today and I can barely walk. I am in no way exaggerating, my leg muscles are soooo painful!!!!!
Please send me any useful tips on how to release this pressure but not time or a massage 🙈

Go for a walk or do some stretching. The worst thing you can do is just sit on your arse.

TheOrigRights · 15/08/2022 20:17

Are you new to exercise? Is this amount of soreness abnormal for you?
As PP says - keep moving, just walking is find.

watermelonlipbalm · 15/08/2022 20:28

I have taken a break from the gym for a year or so and I feel like I've lost all of my muscles and fitness level!
Prior to this I'd be at the gym almost everyday, sometimes even twice (well like 2 30 min sessions!)z I'm a single mum to two now though so I find it hard to fit in. I should've given it a miss tonight really as I was soar but didn't want to miss the opportunity whilst I had childcare!
I just darent move as my legs are so soar 🙈

Keep moving. Lots of fluids. Warm bath if you can. Definitely a gentle walk tomorrow and you shouldn't be so sore.

gamerchick · 15/08/2022 20:29

Could you tolerate freezing cold water. Just enough in the bath to sit in and cover your legs?

Power through it, go back.

watermelonlipbalm · 15/08/2022 20:32

I did feel better when I was at my class tonight so you're all right, I just need to keep going 🙈

I was hoping someone might say a cornetto on the sofa watching Netflix is the cure 🙈

It's worth a shot! Report back please.

Epsom salts in a bath and keep moving.

Naughtyperson972 · 15/08/2022 20:56

Get a foam roller, hurts a lot while using, but really helps. stretching as well

Stag82 · 15/08/2022 21:05

Epsom bath salts, walking, stretching, foam roller. Eat some protein and some hydration sachets / drinks.

Lightning020 · 15/08/2022 21:07

A Radox bath always helps.

dementedpixie · 15/08/2022 21:08

Its called DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) and is normal after unaccustomed exercise. Time and stretching will help

Brightermornings · 15/08/2022 21:10

I was the same after body pump last week 😂😂 I went for a swim that really helped

dementedpixie · 15/08/2022 21:15

I go to body pump regularly and was sore after missing it for nearly 3 weeks when I was abroad on holiday. Still did my usual classes but did complain a lot during them 😂

TokenGinger · 15/08/2022 21:18

Stretch, stretch, stretch. Release the DOMS. For my legs, I find that kneeling is great for stretching the thighs.

MrsDThomas · 15/08/2022 21:26

Go for a walk, 100%.

when i ran my 1st marathon i did nothing the following day. and by day 2 i knew it. I couldn’t sit on the toilet.

2nd marathon, the following day i went for an 8 mile walk. I kid you not, i felt absolutely fine by day 2. So much so, i ran a half marathon as i was bored

so please, walk!! You know its the best thing. Just 15-20 mins is enough

JamMakingWannaBe · 15/08/2022 21:29

I feel your pain. I went back to the gym after 10 weeks off (initially with COVID) and after the first class I literally couldn't walk for three days. Struggled to use my thighs to sit on the loo, DH had to lift me in/out the bath and I had to WFH as there was no way I could drive. I won't make that mistake again.

As PP, plenty of water and gentle stretching. Hot water bottle and massage.
