We're having a party on Saturday. We created a FB page and there's a few people who have said they'll attend but haven't said a thing to us. Can we go buy those numbers? In all honesty I don't think. We do have a number of of confirmed attendees, what would be a good % to add to it for people who might end up deciding showing up?

I wouldn't go off the attend button on FB. Just message them and ask them if they are?

My DH thinks it's stupid to ask for confirmation, then what's the point of the FB event page? I do think people say "yes" without thinking of the consequences

Depends...have you invited the contents of your Facebook list and so you've got everyone from your mum to the couple you met in Spain 5 years ago?

Or have you picked out people you think would come?

The more people you invite I think the less meaningful the confirmations...

Have you done anything with the page except post the event? I'm not sure I'd trust a fb event would be going ahead without any further communication...even if it's a post like 'how many of you are veggie so I know who to cater for?", or "who's bringing kids?"

Personally I think people say yes to fb events because they're interested...but wait to actually have some interaction with the host to confirm its going ahead.

There's also some that don't bother responding at all, and think you psychically know they are coming.

Organising an event on fb is more of an easy way to communicate to your guests, and manage your numbers but I don't think wholly works as an invite.

We invited a total of 25 I think. We've posted a couple things (including a menu) a couple of days ago. I was thinking of adding an RSVP post... And see what would come out of it

I'd do another post along the lines of 'just doing a final count before we do the food shop, can you reply to this post if your def coming so I know how much we are catering for'
