Cinema with a toddler??

My youngest is 22months old and I'm thinking of taking them and older DD to the cinema to see one of the kids films showing. There are no Junior/Baby screenings any time soon. So I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience of taking a toddler to the cinema? I know you can take toddlers/young children I've just never experienced it before and wondered if people actually do/if it's accepted? Obviously if they cry we'll go out, although I don't think they will.

22 months is way too young- we managed peppa pig at the cinema around 2.5yrs old and that was a struggle. 22 month olds are all physical- unless yours sit still for more than 2mins (in which case please share your secret)

Yep people do it all the time (I’ve done ALOT of cinema visits with kids!). If they make too much noise or cry then obviously take them out but otherwise enjoy!

Could you take them to one of the accessible showings? They are usually advertised for autism but they are actually for anyone who might find it difficult to sit still or be quiet.

I think it really depends on the child and you know your child best so not sure how helpful the posts on here would be. I would not even contemplate taking my 2.5yo to the cinema. She can just about manage to watch 30 minutes of a Disney movie or Bluey or whatever at home and that's with being allowed to run around and talk as much as she wants. I also think the loud noise would upset her.

Can she watch a whole film sat still on the sofa at home? If not then I wouldn’t even contemplate it tbh.

I wouldn't necessarily judge based on how they manage in front of tv. Mine won't sit down and watch a film at home but will happily sit through a full length film at the cinema, it's more absorbing I think. Having said that, mine was 2.5 before I tried! I think it's a bit young, you could give it a go but be prepared to leave early (very early!) if needed.
