Best value Extra virgin olive oil?

Looking to buy food cupboard staples in bulk to keep the cost of things down. What would people recommend for Olive oil?

Waitrose is my favourite but £5.25 a litre. Can get Sainsbury's for £4.10/litre (in a 2 litre tub) and it's alright.

Any other recommendations that balance good taste with good price?

I think the Aldi and Lidl ones generally get good reviews, and they're likely to be quite a bit cheaper than Waitrose or Sainsburys.

But I'm not sure they're worth buying in bulk, unless you can't get to those shops easily. They generally seem to come in a standard sized bottle, so I'd just buy one to try to see if you like it.

Olive oil is probably cheap in bulk from Costco, but you need to be a member to shop there, although it can be worth the fee for the toilet roll alone (almost).

Waitrose EV olive oil is the thing I miss most following the Ocado divorce.

As Ocado is more convenient for me I experimented with their other similarly priced olive oils - and wondered why my food was tasting disappointing.

Over this Spring and Summer I’ve found a million ways to justify the blue Brindisa tins gathering in my kitchen. They are very pretty! But more importantly the oil actually enhances food - so makes it easier to throw together very simple, hot weather meals. I do also try to buy some ‘ordinary’ EV oil for less dainty meals - whatever’s on offer, but the Brindisa is an extravagance that I don’t think will survive the Winter in this household.

(Which is why I’m loitering here. Very keen to discover cheaper EV oil that actually tastes good.)

I like Lidl for olive oil. Their generic EV is ok, but during their Greek or Spanish weeks they often have something nice.

I use Lidl deluxe and it's great

Glad to know I'm not imagining it, it IS really good!
