Sorry….. is there a thread already? Have been interested to see this campaign on social media. Am in the CWU and a fan of Dave Ward. Will you be joining the campaign? Do you think rallies actually help causes? It looks like I’ll be striking soon but feel like that’s what the company want… us out of the building so they can lock the doors, change our terms and conditions and let us return when we sign a new contract. The Enough is Enough campaign has given me a little bit of hope though. Will you be signing up or is it a waste of time hoping that bills might come down and wages increase?

I'm glad to see finally a campaign to fight back. The 'opposition' have been quiet for too long. I'm a moderate but sick of seeing the rich getting richer and the poor, poorer

@Arnaquer as a moderate, will the rise in fuel costs eventually make you think twice about buying luxuries? My gas and electric went from £80 to £180. I got really careful really quickly, turning off sockets, showering the kids at swimming lessons, washing on 30 on eco etc and after 3 months my payments have come down to £114 per month. My DM though kept her heating on, there’s sometimes 3 TVs playing in her house and she’s of the mind that she’s going to be warm and comfortable (and why not) except her direct debit has just gone up to £280 and she’s retired living in a small bungalow. I’d say DM and DSD are fairly wealthy but their money isn’t going to last unless something drastic happens soon.

Good to see a campaign going on....europeans wont tolerate all this and take to the streets much faster than us over a protest etc....i have cut out some items in preparation for the increases etc....but am on a good fixed deal until next march and will go solar etc....
i do have a totally mad neighbour who has heating on all year and windows opens and brags about being able to afford it etc....but she is mad...hoovers 4 times a day...washing machine going non stop....and she isnt that well off...strange woman and behaviour...total waste of money and resources.

Yes it will. I've already stopped buying clothes on a whim and only buy if I need them. Same with toiletries, use every last bit. Will have to make further cuts I'm sure as have 2 DCs at uni who willl need more financial help now as well

Gilead · 15/08/2022 08:43

I joined last week. Should admit to being a Labour Party member.
Im disabled and will be one of the heat or eat brigade but November.

Gilead · 15/08/2022 08:43

By November!

Notwashingup · 15/08/2022 19:23

@Gilead I’m also a Labour Party member as some of my union subs go to the party but I am hugely concerned Starmer is so quiet. Summer break seems so outdated, each year it causes problems.
I’d like to take to the streets and stamp my feet today. It’s disgusting you are in this situation, it’s disgusting we are in this situation.
I read that schools might only open for a 3 day week. Can completely understand why, the local secondary school has phenomenal electric bills. Our DC have already suffered a lapse in their education, who knows what the future holds for them.
We will be spending more time in the library, did a quick book swap earlier, never thought to hang out and read there before but it’s a nice building and the staff are really friendly.

It’s shit isn’t it. I voted for Starmer in the mistaken belief that he would be erudite and bring gravitas to the circus of Johnson. It’s so frustrating.
