Dog sitters in Cardiff - can I hire one just for one evening?

As the title says, does anyone know if it's possible to hire a puppy sitter just for an evening rather than for an entire holiday?

I've been googling and all I can find is holiday length arrangements.

Also, does anyone have any recommendations?

Photo for blatant attention seeking.

I was a cat sitter and did a few dog sits like you describe, so that might be an idea to pursue. Cat sitters visit the pets in their homes, unlike most dog sitters.

Sorry not in Cardiff though. Cute puppy!

Search for dog walkers and doggy day care, some of them will have short term availability.

We've hired a dog sitter for a day recently but we already knew them and they'd done longer breaks.

dressupinyou · 15/08/2022 07:22

You might need to offer them their 24 hour rate.

There is an app called Rover and a website called borrow my doggy. I think the website is for walking, but the app is definitely for dog sitting. I’ve not used either.

My friend is a dog walker in the Cardiff area. I can ask her if you like?

There's a brilliant offer for you!!

unfortunately I'm too far away (SE England) or I'd have offered.

Do you not have any friends who'd happily have him for you? I think I have my friends dog as much as they do.🤣. She calls me mummy too/two. Im with him for 16 days while they're away, I stay at theirs as it's a better set up for him (and for me, for him) but I puppy sit just for the evening or pop over to walk & give him his lunch if they're out for a long time.

MissB's friend could turn out to be a brilliant contact!!'

You certainly can but you'll need to ask dog walkers rather than daycares/boarders.

I do dog-sitting in the owners home or in holiday homes. Prices start at £40 per night for adult dogs but a bit more for puppies depending on their age and whether they're toilet trained or not Wink

I'm nowhere near Cardiff though!

When do you need your doggo to be doggo-sat?

DisplayPurposesOnly · 15/08/2022 08:06

I used Pawshake to find a pet-sitter. Many appear to do one-offs.

DMCWelshcakes · 15/08/2022 10:50

Ooh thanks everyone!

I need someone to watch him for about 5 hours on Saturday night as I've got tickets to the Lion King in the Millennium Centre.

@BastardtheCat - love your user name!

@MissBattleaxe - that would be brilliant if you could.

Your puppy is beautiful . Wish I lived near Cardiff .

MissBattleaxe · 15/08/2022 12:16

Just messaged my friend to see if she can do it.

MissBattleaxe · 15/08/2022 22:13

Sadly my friend can't do this Saturday but said if she was free she would have. Maybe keep her in mind for the future?
