Been paid already?

I start a new job tomorrow, I’ve just checked my bank account and there’s a payment going in from them tomorrow for roughly half the monthly amount. Why?! Obviously I’ll ask them tomorrow but it’s odd, I’ve never been paid like this before… is this normal?!

Don't feckin complain 😂

Some companies pay half way through the month. Two weeks in arrears and two weeks ahead.

If that were the case I would expect you to get paid for 6 weeks on the 15th ish of September, but maybe they've added you to payroll early and you got the two weeks ahead for the time you're yet to work?

TheChosenTwo · 14/08/2022 17:37

😂
I’m not complaining, honestly! Just really surprised, not sure if it’s normal that they pay you half the wages upfront as this has never happened to me before!
and it’s entered as a weird sort of payment, on my bank statement it says “name of company” general fun… and then I can’t read anymore.
strange!

They do pay on the 15th. I just wasn’t expecting any pay tomorrow from them as I haven’t actually done anything yet 😂

Well that's most likely what's happened then. It can catch you out a bit when you leave.

girlmom21 · 14/08/2022 17:54

They're just paying you for this month. Normally they'd make you wait 6 weeks.

TheChosenTwo · 14/08/2022 18:15

Right okay, thanks.
so it’s quite normal then it seems.
ive only ever been paid at the end of the month - this is new to me!

Made sure all your direct debits will cope with the new pay date, I've had to bump mine to different dates to suit my payroll dates in the past (especially as one of my bosses always pays late!)

It’s a good reminder! I’m all set though, but something important to think about for anyone used to being paid at the end of the month and changing to mid month.
