Are Alton Towers fast track tickets worth getting?

We’re thinking of taking DC to Alton Towers next week.

The tickets are already expensive but when you add the fast track on it ends up costing us nearly £200 just to get in!

I am thinking about getting it but is it really worth it. If you don’t get them do you end up queuing for hours?

Last time I went we got there at opening time and ran between rides and only managed I think six rides.

Was that without the fast track passes?

We were there 2 weeks ago and I thought that fastpass tickets would have been a total waste of money. We got there early and went straight to the smiler the first day and the second day we went straight to the wickerman. Those were the only two rides that had very long queues.

We might have considered individual fastpass tickets for thise two rides but really not worth it for any of the others IMO.

We went on a few weeks ago and got the platinum fast track (£105 each) 12 rides as often as you want.
I thought it was ridiculously expensive but we had a much better day with them than the times we've been before.
We'd done 4 rides in the first hour and that's usually what we'd manage all day.
DC said they felt a bit criminal walking past everyone in the queue but we definitely paid for the privilege!
We would definitely get them again but probably the slightly cheaper gold passes.
I watched the queue for 13 go from 45 to 70 minutes wait while they went on the ride which took about 10 minutes in total!!

Absolutely worth it - on busy days you’ll spend way more time queuing than you will on rides, so if you can do it I would.

Do you or anyone you know have either a blue light card or an employee reward platform like Reward Gateway? With those type of things you can get 25-40% off main tickets, which you can then put towards the fast pass and overall the cost is lower. clubcard reward vouchers can also be put towards Alton towers tickets.

Failing that, look out for 2 for 1 deals on Kelloggs (www.moneysavingexpert.com/deals/alton-towers-vouchers/) and put the saving towards fast passes?

Yes sorry, that was without fast passes. I felt it was a long way to go and a lot of money for six rides. I’d rather have paid more and done more rides but not sure how much faster it is?

I’d say we queued for most rides for well over an hour, probably 90 mins. Apart from Galactica because we ran there first, then did 13, then Smiler (which broke down after we queued for over an hour so never got on it), then Oblivion, then some shitty rollercoaster with next to no queue, then the haunted house duel thing which also didnt have a bad queue, then the water rapids, then wicker man (2hour queue).

We are going soon and decided against fast track, but we have 3 days of the park and one day water park so figure it will be ok, we will still get to go on everything and being there for the 3 days means it won’t matter if we miss something one day. Annoyed that I couldn’t book the roller coaster restaurant though, it was completely booked for the whole time we are there.

You aren’t missing much with the rollercoaster restaurant to be honest. The food is shit!

That makes me feel better, I am taking my niece so thought it would be something she would enjoy but at least we won’t be missing much.

Definitely agree about the roller coaster restaurant, genuinely some of the worst food I’ve ever had!
