Does every workplace have that person?

Every job I have ever worked in seems to have one person who is an absolute arse, who creates tension and hinders productivity. Have I just been unlucky or are they everywhere?

choosername1234 · 14/08/2022 13:03

Yes. If anyone answers no, I suspect they are that one person Grin

Mamette · 14/08/2022 13:04

Mine has at least 5 and that’s just in my department.

EquallyDivided · 14/08/2022 13:14

Yes, although ours left recently and no one else has taken their place, it is like a giant cloud has been lifted

gettingolderandgrumpy · 14/08/2022 13:24

Yes but your lucky if only one I’ve has several in one workplace. Your also unlucky if that person is senior to you .

mumda · 14/08/2022 13:42

And if yours doesn't, then it's you.

Palmfrond · 14/08/2022 13:45

Yes and most sit in a management position!

Babyroobs · 14/08/2022 13:53

Mine has a few. One who stirs trouble, has full on verbal arguments with the manager in front of everyone, appears to be best friends with everyone but then slates them to others behind their backs. Chats for ages with others and keeps them from their work then moans that they aren't doing much work ! Another walks around with a long face all the time and calls in sick every other week for a week at a time. Another wont push herself or learn any new thing to make life easier for others or take the load off others. As you've probably guessed manager is very weak too and won't stand up to these people for fear of them walking out and her having no-one left ! thank god my contract is only for a year. My last place wasn't much better though. Terrible lazy people and too much trouble for the over stretched manager to try to manage them out so they just lingered for years letting the service ( and vulnerable clients) down. This is all in the charity sector - people doing coffee mornings and hikes to fund these charities and some of these staff don't have an ounce of moral decency to work a decent days graft between them.

CatrinVennastin · 14/08/2022 13:54

Yes and they often end up promoted!

Elwynne · 14/08/2022 14:07

I'm glad it's not just me but I'm sorry for everyone else experiencing these people too! My personal favourites are the gatekeepers who do nothing and allow nothing to happen, alas at the moment I am suffering with someone who keeps publicly promising that my team will do things without asking me first🙄
