Somebody on here recommended a book but I've forgotten the title A mother's something Ithink?
It was about a woman who wrote to a magazine in the 20s asking for help to fill her time, she had many replies and a group of housewives made their own magazine and posted it to each other whilst adding their own bit. It only stopped in the 80s
Any ideas anyone, it sounded so interesting

It sounds like Can Any Mother Help Me?

I want to read it too now so thank you for introducing me to it.

Well thanks to both of you I've just had a quick look and it looks brilliant so I'm thinking I'll read it too! In fact it sounds like the pre-internet prototype for Mumsnet, yes? So loads of us mumsnetters would be interested in it, I imagine.

In fact it sounds like the pre-internet prototype for Mumsnet,

I didn't think of it like that but you're right, it really does.

OneTimeNamechanged · 14/08/2022 08:47

It does @heldinadream ! 😆
Thank @GlutenLover , I would still be looking if it wasn't for them
Happy reading to you both

Amazing.

I love this book. I wrote my dissertation on the lives of interwar women and this was a invaluable source. Enjoy OP.

I've read this book - I think I have still have it but I've lent it out to others. The organisation National Women's Register started from a similar letter.
