Because your parents had strange rules around them?
For me it's:
Showering daily
Using 'too much' shampoo and shower gel etc.
Washing my clothes and bedding before it could walk to the washing machine by itself.
Enjoying a spontaneous trip out for lunch/a bit of shopping with the kids.
Eating my evening meal later than 5pm rather than planning the whole day around making sure your back in time for 5pm.
Buying my kids branded items for school (not the cheapest version off the market)
Sure there are more...what are yours?

Stopping as many times as I like on a journey because my DF never did. When I drive with DM (who never learned to drive) I love to divert if we see an interesting signpost or stop at services and she’s always a bit shocked even though they split up 30+ years ago.

Going to the hairdressers.

My parents never let me cut my hair; they said it was my "crowning glory" (it was a Bible thing apparently)...even though it looks like I've been dragged through a bush scruffy in photos of me as a kid, and I had nits A LOT. I really wanted it cut to my shoulders, but they wouldn't let me.

Finally when I was 16 I rebelled and used money from my part time job to get it chopped off. Wish I'd done it sooner.

Oh, I also enjoy not going to church on Sundays!

I would agree but my DH has taken over the parental 'you could get one of those much cheaper somewhere else' mantra.

Being the parent I wanted as a child

Turning on the heating before November (although that may change this year...!)

Being able to get a takeaway on a Friday, or any day of the week for that matter! We were never allowed as they were seen as a waste of money and expensive. I still get annoying 'eating out again?' comments from my mum. We don't eat out that often, but even if we do, it isn't her business or money to worry about!

Leaving at the time we agree to leave the house. My mum would always say a certain time then start yelling at me if I wasn't ready 20 minutes before. So annoying!

Antarcticant , poor you. You have my sympathy!!
