Been stuck in a traffic loop of hell for hours..

I need some positivity as am losing the will and having a right old pity party here😵‍💫

We’re currently driving back to the Sussex coast from East Lincolnshire coast, we left at 10.30am and we’re STILL stuck trying to get out of Peterborough after endless road closures and traffic like I’ve never experienced before. Both kids are at wall climbing whinge levels and DH (driver) is doing his best. I’m absolutely bursting for a wee. I realise this sounds like such a first world problem, but our lovely (although) short 3 night holiday feels like it never happened and we still have 700 hours to go😅 😨😭

Can you find something in Peterborough that you want to do for a couple of hours and try again once the daytime traffic has died down?

Is there still an ice rink in Peterborough, that would be nice and cool, or a cinema. Somewhere you can have a break, go to the loo and just get out of the car.

Agree with stopping off somewhere rather than just keeping on! Even a retail park will have loos, air con and somewhere to grab a bite to eat.

Stop off at Ferry Meadows for a play, a wee and a cuppa

Go to The Hamptons. There's a Dobbies with crazy golf, a massive tesco and numerous restaurants, including a 24 hour Krispy Kreme drive through (hopefully you won't be there that long ) it's off Fletton Parkway A1139

Our journey home from East Lincolnshire a couple of weeks ago was a nightmare, awful traffic round Boston and Spalding. Put me off going back up there on another holiday!
Sorry that's not much help for you now! Second stopping off somewhere for a couple of hours, cool down, have some tea and then set off again later when traffic has hopefully settled down

Thank you everyone 🥰

DH determined to just get home.. We did stop at a service although before I burst a kidney!😅 Just going past Cambridge now and traffic seems smoother.. for now.. god knows what the Dartford bridge will be like though 🫣
